Per college basketball beat writer

Sources: German forward Franz Wagner, the brother of Moritz Wagner, will decide between playing college basketball at Michigan next year or signing a professional deal with Alba Berlin.

Hopefully Howard can lock him down. We really need 1-2 players for this 19-20 season. Missing out on Wilson, this one is a must! This next year is so important. Howard is offering some big names, and think some have serious interest in 20 class.  However, this first year of seeing how he coaches and how well they play could influence everything for 2020 recruits. Franz is a huge piece. Hopefully he sees that Michigan can help him get to the nba.

A certain b-ball insider on 247 may be hinting this one is heading towards good news.  I say “may be” because he doesn’t mention Wagner, just that a ‘19 class addition is looking likely.

Side note on Wagner. He got the start last night in the league finals game 2. He normally doesn’t play all that much. He went 100% from the field leading Alba in scoring with 14 in front of over 14000 people.

Good thing Poole was drafted 1st round and Iggy mid 2nd. Looks good for us to Franz and shows that coming to Michigan will get him to the next level

If Poole and Iggy both went undrafted I bet it would've heavily influenced him to stay in Europe

This year is really not that important.  The really important year will be Howard's third.  That's when we'll start to see his real impact on this program, once the team is mostly his, and not Beilein's.  Really good results in Howard's third and fourth year will erase whatever happened in the first two, but if we lapse in years 3 and 4, it won't matter how well Howard did his first two years.

Every bleeping year is important. It was important that JB was able to get Novak and Stu as grinders to start, but that he was able to get Morris for year two to start the PG trend. And if UM is to maintain its current level, or barely drop off, then it is important to get a guy who can enter the rotation this year like Iggy did last year.

I think he'd get more NBA exposure in the U.S. He'll probably go Blue. That and combined with Mo's probable influence I think will sway him the college route.
