Eh, I know you're more or less kidding, but as a baby Jayhawk myself (parents both graduated from KU, and I went there my freshman year), I should point out that ... things change. They've won the Orange Bowl far more recently than Michigan has won the Rose Bowl, and, after all, a school that produced Gale Sayers, John Riggins, John Hadl, and Nolan Cromwell ain't too bad.

It's funny -- for most of my life it was K State that was the joke. But man, KU's program has really catered for the past 15 years.

I think I’d rather play for Leipold than a 67 year old Les Miles anyway honestly. Les strikes me as a guy at the end of his career that would just be walking through the motions at this point. He’s already achieved the highest accomplishments and now he’s in his late 60’s at a bottom feeder program.

Your comment got me curious, so I looked up "Rock chalk." Wikipedia provides an explanation that explains almost nothing.

First, the phrase transposes, "chalk rock," which is a type of limestone in the state. Okay. There's the connection.

But then the account adds this: "They came up with 'Rah, Rah, Jayhawk, Go KU' [in 1886], repeated three times, which later became 'Rock Chalk Jayhawk Go KU'" [1889].

So it happened ... because it happened?

Well at least we know that he didn't transfer because he could no longer tolerate the losing seasons...

Along with Les Miles he will have that grass to chew on.
