No thanks. I prefer the muscle car look. I will keep my Challenger Scat Pack. I did love my 1988 Mustang 5.0 though. Had a lot of fun with it.
November 17th, 2019 at 9:52 PM ^
0 to 60 in about 3.5 seconds might make it part of the mustang family.
November 18th, 2019 at 5:26 AM ^
so they made a fast, e-Kia.
comparable to the 'new' coke that was tried out 25 or so years ago and quickly back-tracked.
November 18th, 2019 at 7:49 AM ^
More a like faster, electrified Honda "Accord" CrossTour / Acura "TL" ZDX or, more realistically, trying to take a piece of that BMW X6 niche that, for some reason, has become a thing.
November 17th, 2019 at 9:55 PM ^
Ford sucks.
November 17th, 2019 at 10:07 PM ^
Not if you've driven the Ford GT from 2005. Most exhilarating drive ever. And not too shabby ROI.
November 17th, 2019 at 10:39 PM ^
Sticking with the tried and true ZIL limousine? Maybe keep a Lada at the dacha? Hey, wasn’t that a Morrisey song?
November 17th, 2019 at 10:50 PM ^
Zhiguli.
There is no substitute.
November 18th, 2019 at 8:06 AM ^
The ZIL was a Commie ripoff of the Checker taxi.
November 17th, 2019 at 10:52 PM ^
We won't be buying one again. Our Ford has had a few issues like any other but I'll be damned if I'm going to deal with service techs continually denying the existence of a transmission problem we've been having. I'm sure they'd diagnose it as soon as the warranty runs out.
November 17th, 2019 at 11:40 PM ^
You have a focus I’m assuming?
November 17th, 2019 at 11:45 PM ^
Explorer. Very hard shift during reverse that makes you feel like you've run into or over something. It's jarring and obvious. I'd be happy if someone just said "yeah, sorry about that, but your transmission still works so it's not technically broken" but no, we've dropped it off at a few different Ford service centers and they said that they couldn't duplicate it. Horse crap. They either didn't drive the car or they are lying to my face.
November 18th, 2019 at 6:04 AM ^
Hard shift as you try to engage reverse or an issue driving in reverse?
November 18th, 2019 at 6:58 AM ^
While backing up. After the car has moved anywhere from 3-6 feet. That's why it's so jarring. Always end up thinking I've hit a kid or someone with a buggy when I'm leaving a parking lot.
November 18th, 2019 at 8:55 AM ^
Depending on year and powertrain, look up F150 single piece drive shaft sticking. I believe the video mentions its prominent in the F150 but can apply to explorer/expeditions too. They somehow decided it was okay not to grease the slip shaft for a period of time and it will create symptoms like that where the rear end jumps. I still need to drop the shaft on my truck... (I went through the dealer multiple times for having the trans checked and they didn't do anything about it.
November 18th, 2019 at 1:26 PM ^
Agree with above, if it's right when you put it into reverse then probably transmission/clutch/gears. If you're already moving it could still be transmission (have you changed transmission fluid and checked for metal fragments?), or drivetrain.
November 18th, 2019 at 5:37 PM ^
It's in the drivetrain. They should just swap it out and see what happens. Them at least you have happy customers that feel like you're trying. Sometimes to run a good business, you have to not be a good business man.
November 18th, 2019 at 11:19 PM ^
Personally, I've tried to dissociate the company from my dealer but find that hard to do. Having been infuriated by my dealer many times, I can appreciate and sympathize what you are going through. It makes you hate the manufacturer and your car, even if you don't want to. Good luck and I wish they would do right by you!
November 18th, 2019 at 8:13 AM ^
Have them sit in the car with you and replicate it yourself, then there is no denying it...had to do this once in a similar situation.
November 18th, 2019 at 8:28 AM ^
We did. Said they'd still have to have their transmission guy take a look and was told two weeks later that he couldn't duplicate it. They did apologize for it taking him so long to get a chance to look at the car.
Just never experienced that kind of bull before. As if they don't realize that kind of stuff sours relationships with their customers. We'll be selling it before the warranty expires. It's been a pretty good van alternative for the last couple of years but we're ready to move on.
So when we look for a new ride, it's unfortunate that we'll be scratching this model off the list without giving it a chance.
November 18th, 2019 at 9:50 AM ^
just fyi an electric car only has one gear.
November 18th, 2019 at 4:36 AM ^
They especially suck at owning a football franchise!
November 18th, 2019 at 6:24 PM ^
Their refusal to admit or fix any of the problems with the 5.4L v8 Triton engines unfortunately caused the end of me ever buying any Fords again.
November 17th, 2019 at 9:55 PM ^
Why? Ford has gone all in on SUVs and Crossovers and electronic vehicles.
while all American auto companies are run poorly, Ford is run less poorly that GM or Chrysler
November 17th, 2019 at 10:05 PM ^
This is demonstrably false. Their stock price is in the toilet compared to the other two, and they're hemorrhaging money everywhere even after massive layoffs. And as always, they have the highest recall rate in the industry.
November 17th, 2019 at 10:11 PM ^
They've also never been bankrupt, asked the American taxpayer for a bailout, or been bought out by a foreign company.
Ford is literally the last of what actually made this country great. Who gives a fuck what their share price is?
November 17th, 2019 at 10:25 PM ^
That's a lovely sentiment, Hatter, but how many Fords are in your driveway right now?
November 17th, 2019 at 10:36 PM ^
My driveway has 3 fords, a GM, and a FCA. Only issue I have is with people who drive the Asian cars. You drive a Toyota, Subaru, Honda, and I automatically assume you are bad at life. Can’t believe someone would stoop so low.
November 17th, 2019 at 10:44 PM ^
Only issue I have is with people who drive the Asian cars. You drive a Toyota, Subaru, Honda...
All of which are made in the US, by US workers, getting paid in US Dollars, and contributing to the US economy.
But OK.
What you meant to say is you have an issue with non-UAW built makes.
November 17th, 2019 at 11:01 PM ^
Nah my Richard. GM, Ford, and FCA have more factories here. Go check out where your Prius was built
November 18th, 2019 at 1:48 AM ^
Our BMW was built in South Carolina and our Subaru was built in Indiana.
Ford builds multiple models in Mexico. Same with GM.
Troll on.
November 17th, 2019 at 11:19 PM ^
I would rather American built in the United States. But the idea that a foreign brand built in the United States is good is such a croc of shit. These foreign companies are playing you and laughing to the bank and they bring the money back to their country.
November 18th, 2019 at 12:07 AM ^
Sigh. Some of those "foreign brands" rank higher in Cars.com AMI. 60% of the top 5.
November 18th, 2019 at 1:34 AM ^
My 2002 Honda Accord with 250,000 miles has played out pretty well. Other than routine maintenance, I’ve had nothing wrong with the car. My wife’s American made automobile consistently has problems.
November 18th, 2019 at 1:46 AM ^
are playing you and laughing to the bank and they bring the money back to their country.
Profits go to shareholders not to countries. Full stop.
Don't act like the Big 3 gives money away to people in Michigan. Hell, the union has to threaten management with strikes and such just to get them to invest in plants and other capital improvements.
The only thing laughable here is the notion that a UAW manufacturer is more altruistic than a non-UAW manufacturer.
November 18th, 2019 at 6:08 AM ^
My profit sharing and stock comp says they give away money to people in Michigan. I don’t care where it’s a built but I do want the high paying corporate and R&D functions in Michigan.
November 18th, 2019 at 12:38 PM ^
"profit sharing and stock comp" is compensation. It's not charity. Like others suggest by keeping the money at home... which again, profits go to shareholders.
November 18th, 2019 at 5:55 AM ^
C'mon. If you prefer to 'buy American' ok, but don't pretend like Toyota and Honda don't build some really nice cars. My first car was a Honda that I got to 225k before I started having serious issues. They're good cars
November 18th, 2019 at 5:57 AM ^
I truly do not understand why people insist on trying to make where your car manufacturer is from a moral issue. So all of the parts in a Ford are made in America? Everything in your home is made in America? Please spare me. Most people who beat this drum are just tied to the auto industry and are trying to moralize their selfish desires
November 18th, 2019 at 10:53 AM ^
I think that's a bias passed down from the Greatest Generation. I know my Dad's parents still threaten to remove him or his siblings from their will if they buy foreign. But my grandpa spent his entire career working for GM. And I'm sure it's hard to forget the friends/family lost to wars fought in Asia/Europe. How many generations have to pass before that mindset is weeded out? And it may never be in the State of Michigan.
IMO, the 'moral' thing to do is buy locally, if you can. Michigan's economy is healthier if the Big 3 are healthy. Honda/Acura have basically put towns on the map in Ohio, so it makes sense to support your community and buy "foreign" in those areas.
November 18th, 2019 at 10:19 AM ^
My Hyundai was built at a unionized plant in Alabama.

You were pretty bitchy in the game thread yesterday, one of the first-quarter-pearl-clutchers. Putin, you need a vacation or something.
November 17th, 2019 at 10:54 PM ^
I was? I'm pretty sure my only complaint was about the third down play calls, which did suck in the first quarter yesterday.
But you're right, I could use an early winter getaway. Any recommendations?
November 18th, 2019 at 8:02 AM ^
Well, you spent something like 50 quadrillion in Sochi so why not go there.
November 18th, 2019 at 10:39 AM ^
Two. A Boss 302 and a Shelby GT500. Two of the finest, funnest cars ever built.
November 17th, 2019 at 10:38 PM ^
The weren't in BR because they were so poorly managed that they went into the crapper before the Great Recession started or they would have been in the same boat as GM and Chrysler who required governmental involvement because of the lack of available credit in the private sector.
November 17th, 2019 at 10:38 PM ^
I don't know how much more incorrect that statement could have been.
