I have an early tee time so I won’t make it up (need full rest for my 2019 debut), but I am fully expecting reports of an MSU win when I wake up. I just feel like the only way State doesn’t win this whole thing is if they completely “turn off” and can’t make shots.
Xavier f-ing Tillman pured a 3 against Duke. That is when I threw my hands up and said “Blah, it’s happening.” They are firing on all cylinders. To win this thing you need to be good and on fire. State is both. They have been for a while now, though. There is a slight chance that they peaked with Duke and will not have that same “it” they have for a while.
This is not an uber-talented State team, we have seen them in the past overachieve but eventually level off. Often in the round of four specifically. Just so happens there is not a big bad wolf in this four. They could feasibly play kind of shitty and still win it.
been saying it for a month: state is smart and they have a spine this year. izzo has done a nice job this year. give credit where it is due even if you don't like the opponent.

about pearl, and as a reason to root against auburn: Aside from Pitino, Pearl is the only head coach connected to a school tied to the FBI investigation who also has a history with NCAA violations. Pearl infamously was dealt a three-year show-cause penalty in 2011 by the NCAA after it was discovered he lied to investigators, and tried to conspire to get others to lie as well, about then-recruit Aaron Craft attending a cookout at Pearl's home while he was coach at Tennessee.
Maybe it's me, but I prefer Pearl's skeletons to Izzo's.
