Sappy? Yes. But sweet. Best to your daughter.

I do have to say that, before reading the article, I thought it was written by coach Andy Reid. I’m not sure I would care to read his thoughts on football and fatherhood.

Just because we're bereaved doesn't make us saps!

But in all seriousness, I truly appreciate you taking time out of your busy NFL season, so near the playoffs in particular, to share this with the world. Go Blue!

Just saw a video of the Disneyland Parade, in which JH and some of the players participated.  Pretty cool to be part of the magic I guess, nice to hear they had a fun day off at the park

A wonderful rumination on the joys in life and children and football.

But I cannot agree with this statement:

“Even the misery is FANTASTIC.”

To me, misery is miserable.

As for where this team ranks in the history of Michigan football as played on the field, that’s yet to be determined.

If you’re evaluating how a team rises to meet unprecedented off-the-field challenges during a season, this team is unique in Michigan history.

I haven’t had the time today to read this, but I plan to after I get home tonight from the ER once we get my 90-year-old father admitted for his raging throat infection that yesterday was just a cold.

Enjoy every < gerundive expletive > moment of ever < gerundive > day. And. Absorb every sight, sound, and yes, smell of your kid(s) every day and enjoy their growth as you guide them and let them learn to develop into people you can say make the world a bit brighter and better. Fatherhood is the best job in the world.

Blocking out the current tsuris on the planet, these are, indeed, (as Dickens would say) the best (and worst) of times. Threepeats, number 1 ranking. Yep. Best times indeed.

I view Michigan football as "something to believe in". I like to think of the James Earl Jones soliloquy on baseball in "Field of Dreams" at the movies end about the people coming to Iowa.

I want to believe in amateur athletics done the right way and triumph within that and have nothing but derision for the Buckeye and Crimson Tide cheating ass approach to mercenary football lacking any semblance of an education on how to be successful men in life.

I know there have been human failings on this path but still value the path and cherish those whose shoulders support the way. Hutch was generational and Sainristil is that and more. Chuck Norris fears Mike's aura.

As a non-alumnus I have my Alumni relatives and have attended games since 1967. The game's majesty, the midwest fall sights , sounds and smells make my heart soar and these young mens accomplishments have too much influence on my behavior. Their downfalls are what fuels context and determination and character and shapes these students as men.

Moments sear memory. Memory fosters lore. Lore writes legends and they become history by the victors. We fan these embers hoping to spark the next moment the chessmen move.

Andy this is phenomenal. Thanks for sharing this. I had my first kid this year too and love the mantra of being present, both as a parent and with the team. This article is a great reminder to do that, even when it's hard!

Found out my girlfriend was pregnant last year on the week of the Ohio State game. So far in my sons life, we are 2-0 against them! I'll never forget this season and I can't wait to explain to him that we won the National Championship 6 months after he was born
