Two openings in our hardcore fantasy keeper league. Twenty spots on a team and you must keep 12 every year. Eight round draft every year. Not for the faint of heart. There's an interview process to get in.

Yeah, some people are turned off to keeper leagues. Ours is a 8 man league, with 8 keepers yearly, and we have been at it since 95.

It sounds like it would lack names, but many get thrown back due to limits by position. You guys keep 12, but just the rookies alone can make things intersting once you have built a core. With multiple RBs getting play, and more passing, it turns out there are many viable candidates yearly.

Good luck this season to all.

I don't have any openings but I'm excited for this season. We have three keepers. Thanks to his ACL recovery Gurley fell, so I have him with my 4th round pick. David Johnson and Odell Beckham Jr will take up my last two picks. Beckham Jr. had a hamstring issue, so I got him in the last round. Johnson was third string as a rookie, but he looked good in the preseason so I took a last round flyer on him. I held him on my bench all year because he just kept scoring tds. I'm in an amazing position going into the season so I'm sure they'll all get injured and I'll miss the playoffs.

I was surprised as well but he was pretty low on the sleeper list. He had a long road to the starting job. A lot of guys like him get dropped because it's hard to hold onto them all year when you don't know if they'll even get a shot at the starting job. 18 player roster and 10 starting spots. I had already drafted Gurley and Abdullah too so I was rookie heavy. It worked out well for me last year. It hasn't many times before.

When I first started this league I thought it was going to be a blast. I invited 11 of my friends to play fantasy football with me an activity I quite enjoyed. That is no longer the case. Over the last 13 weeks or so I have endured a myriad of unforeseen but utterly preventable problems. The list includes: 3 attempted briberies, 2 calls for my resignation, 1 call for my impeachment, 3 separate people questioning my friendship and integrity, countless of you coming to my work to complain about the league, and 1 obvious count of collusion. This all reached a boiling point over this last week when two of our owners contrived a plan in order to improve one team (via a lopsided trade) just so the other owner could get into the trade pool. When I asked the two about the trade they told me that if I did not put the trade through they wanted their money back. As I had not received an complaints from other owners I allowed the trade. After that however I received a slew of complaints from other owners. I am going to reverse this trade, that decision is final.

Now before all of you get up in arms I would like to remind you of one very important point. This is just fantasy football. We are playing for $300 which is nothing to sneeze at but come on is it really important enough to cheat out your friends and colleagues? I must be the poorest and youngest of all you and I make that in two days work. You people are all out of your fucking minds. I cannot explain how utterly miserable this year of fantasy football has been. I considered all of you to be friends and people that I cared about but apparently the lure of $300 is too great and nothing like friendship or decency could get in the way. Needless to say this will be my first and last year as your commissioner. I will be withdrawing my name from the trade pool. As the playoffs are starting next week there will be no more trade. I have drawn for the pool and Ike, you win, congratulations. I would also like to use this time to let those of you who care know that I will not be in the golf league next year. I’m sure you’re all broken up about this. If anyone has any questions or complaints go ahead and write them on a piece of paper, find a nice envelope, and shove it up your ass. Best of luck in the playoffs.

Hahah...this was my experience as well! Luckily I got 3rd place and someone else has to be commish. Advice...all rules and ethics around trades need to be well established....and if you veto trades that both teams want...fair or not...the you're an asshole.

We have an anti "butt buddy" rule in effect for off season trades. A minimum of a 3rd pick, and the player being traded must be kept by the other team.

The league was burned one year by someone "loaning" out his players for draft picks the following year. He ended up with multiple picks in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd rounds. Which would have been OK if he didnt get his players back as well.

Some one is always going to think of something not covered by the rules. Damn Harbaughs of the world :)

first off, this isn't the place to find a league.  it is the place to start a league.  And good luck with that. I think I played in an mgoblog league once, either that or I quit before it started.  I play in a lot of leagues...

that said keepers are for chumps, Dynasty is where it is at; anyone can keep a top 2-5 guys, try managing a roster of 26.  Once you cross that rubicon you have to know your shit and you can't rely on basic rankings...

I'm exciting for fantasy this year because there is no 'obvious' best player available drafting strategy because there are only like 5 decent running backs, a ton a good wideouts, and quarterbacks are as deep as ever...

my only tips: own a lot of running backs and keep an eye on waivers, streaming running back may be the new way to win.

Im done with fantasy sports. I was in a hardcore league with friends for the past 5 years and it was just too much. They acted like it was life or death whether they won or not. The commissioner would always change the rules so it'd benefit his team. They would decide to make it a keeper league halfway through the season bc they liked their teams. It was a mess. But the best part is I won the league 2/5 years really not giving a fuck if I did or not. Lol.

I don't get too serious about it anymore either.  I just play in one league with some friends/family.  The cash is too small to even give a shit about.  The first league I played in was a blast though as nothing was computerized.  My first team WR's were Mark Clayton and Mark Duper just to give you an idea of how far back that goes.  The draft was a blast as you actually had to show up for it in the "Commissioner's" basement.  Lots of beer and lots of shit talking after each pick.

The scores were calculated from the box scores the next day and the Commish sent out a letter each week (via US postal service) with the previous weeks scores, transactions and his funny as shit commentary. That was some fun shit back then.
