DJ Turner has officially declared for the draft.
Will Johnson’s reign is about to begin.

Assuming a serviceable corner takes over for DJ (e.g., Gemon Green returns, McBurrows makes the leap, Hill surprises as a freshman), coverage should probably still improve next year thanks to the additional off-season for that pile of returning starters (plus sophomore Will Johnson).

That really sucks. Why does it seem like every other program gets players to stay and Michigan never does? Who is the last player who stayed unexpectedly?

Turner has NFL ability, and his degree. This is not unexpected at all. And he is a testament to good scouting and great development. No reason to think the staff hasn’t/can’t find another stud to replace him. Good luck DJ.

Next year's team is likely to have a couple guys who would definitely get drafted this year.  Mikey, Kris Jenkins, Eyabi (his combine numbers alone would get him drafted), and perhaps the guards if they decide to stay.

Youre probably talking about elite schools like Bama, Georgia, Clemson, etc. They have a lot of players leave, especially for the draft. The difference has been they have significant depth.

Michigan is getting to the point where they have talented Depth.

Proud of this young man...the turnaround in the play of the DBs over the last two has been nothing short of miraculous. No way UM sniffs back to back B1G championships without the massive step up in play by those guys and DJ was a huge, if not unsung, part of that, the Defense and teams success as a whole.

Pretty good cover corner although I feel like he struggled on deep balls this year. Tackling is a D- and that missed tackle NYE killed the season. Good luck bro.

He blew that tackle on Johnson because he's doesn't like contact. Flew at his legs like a dead body. Big players make big plays. That was a whiff and I don't care. Throughout the season he didn't show much interest in tackling either. Better be ready when Nick Chubb comes around the corner.

Obviously that missed tackle on TCU's stud WR when Michigan had narrowed the game to 41-38 will leave a bit of a mark. But, I will more remember DJ Turner as being The Prince Who Was Promised when our secondary went through its Long Night. He wasn't supposed to be that fast. He wasn't supposed to be that good. And, yet....? He was both fast and good. A key contributor on the field that allowed both Macdonald and Minter to cook up a winning gameplan against OSU. Twice. Happy trails and get that cashmoney, DJ.

DJ Turner'd out to be the best cover corner Michigan has had since David Long graced the Big House.  Good luck in the NFL, I'll be watching!

Wonder if Green going to use that covid shirt? Staff has been very high on McBurrows and having Mikey and Will back is a good place to be. I'm not overly concerned here! Thanks DJ for showing us the way vs back to back years of the OSU Death sword WR corps! Well done get paid!
