per ESPN ND much better than OSU

Submitted by imafreak1 on

So, I'm reading the OSU Blue Ribbon team preview for OSU and it's all everybody great is returning except even better. And I'm all yeah, whatevahs. But then it's all, playing for likely BCS championship game for the 9th season in a row. And I'm all, yeah, yeah, try not to humiliate the conference again losers. I get down to the grades and it's all

Offense C (and I'm like woah!)

Special Teams B+ (like who cares!)

Defense C+ (and I'm all, is anyone proofing this?)

Intagibles A- (combine with special teams please!)

In an attempt to reconcile these odd grades I glanced at the only other Blue Ribbon panel I'd read--Notre Dame. I didn't remember ND getting all F's because that's the kind of thing a guy would remember! and low and behold I find ND is much better than OSU with a B- offense (look ma no blocking) and a B+ defense (TA-NU-TA must be some kind of awesome!!) Special teams and Intagibles don't matter so I don't remember them.

Internal consistency? Anything at all along those lines? Anything?

In between hitting return too much I keep checking to make sure I haven't made some grievous error and was reading Oklahoma State U or something. Do they have a Boeckman?

That just has to be an error, right? They are ranked 1 or 2 in every relevant poll (except mine, where they are "others receiving votes") so how can ESPN honestly think they have a C and C+ for offense and defense, respectively? Did Desmond or Dana Jacobsen jump in there and change them at the last minute? Cause I would totally do that if I worked for ESPN.

They're using last year's grades by mistake. If you remember, OSU lost a ton off their offense before last year as well as some guys on the defense that was cut up pretty good by Florida in the title game. No one, not even OSU fans, thought they were going to be in the title game last season -- they were shooting for this season. And everyone thought our offense would be awesome.

If anyone's dumb enough to think last year's title game was anything but the better team winning - and "anything" includes SUPERIOR ESS EEE SEE SPEEEEEEEEEEEEED and athleticism - they're retarded, and doing a disservice to that LSU team.

Quite honestly, as a Buckeye fan, I'll have no doubts heading into the title game this time around if we emerge victorious in LA. Anything but, and I'm fine with beating up on Oklahoma or Boise State in some other BCS game. You know, some soft, kind, non-SEC team.

Somewhere on ESPN.com there is a guy saying Notre Dame has a solid chance of going 11-0 into it's game with USC. I know as Michigan fans were conditioned to laugh at this stuff, but even my friends from conferences around the nation think it's absolutely ridiculous.

I think that Notre Dame will be better, but to call their offense and defense better than OSU is pure poppycock! I hate to give credit to the Buckeyes on anything, but I have the following observations about the Bucks: 1. Jim Lauranitis is as good a linebacker as I have seen in the Big Ten since Chris Spielman. 2. Their defensive speed is off the charts (I think even better than our defense that had Hall, Woodley, etc.) 3. Their offensive line is tremendous, and they have a lot coming back. 4. While he is an immature idiot, Wells, is a really good pro-caliber back in the mold of Larry Johnson/KiJana Carter. The one place where the Golden Domers are demonstrably better is at WR. Robiskie and his partner are nothing better than above average.
