epsn misses something

ESPN just hyped up the Pitt-Duke basketball game by saying the two teams have a combined 100 game win streak vs non-conference opponents (Pitt-64, Duke-36). Did we not just beat Duke in a non-conference game 8 days ago?

I don't know if that makes much sense, either, since both teams couldn't be playing at home at the same time. So it couldn't have been "One of these things has to give." Oh well. Maybe it was just a random comparison between home non-conference winning streaks like, "These two teams head the list of winning streaks" or something like that.

Duke also lost to Georgetown last year, or Pitt, or someone. It was the night before Thanksgiving and I was in a hotel, so that's all I know.

I just remember after the Duke game, there was hardly anything but the box score for the game on ESPN. Nevermind that a few weeks earlier, the UCLA story was plastered all over the front page. Typical ESPN Duke homerism...

To be fair, that game did happen on conference championship Saturday. A early season college basketball upset probably doesn't earn either of the two spots where ESPN blares their headline news. I remember seeing the headline on the right side of the homepage most of the day. ESPN does love Duke (their game with UNC-Ashville is on ESPN2 tonight) and Duke does suck, but I don't think your point is a fair one.

Both Duke and Pitt are at home vs non-conference opponents on ESPN2 tonight. Maybe they were just hyping it as "see if Duke and Pitt can hold on to their non-conference home win-streeks"?
