high school program, it is funny how his recruitment and decommitment is getting so much attention. Because here, this kid isn't regarded as a great running back. In fact, he is more likely to wind up playing linebacker, because while powerful, he is not fast. The school he attends plays some major high schools but not the higest level statewide competition. For example, Butler High School where Michigan's Channing Stribling, was a part of a two-time state championship team, that has sent a number of players to major D1 schools, has gotten more ink than Hood. I'm certain that will now change.
Hood is a good kid from a nice family. The school he attends is a landlocked private school off a major thoroughfare. I never thought his commitment to ND was that strong, more base on connection to the idea of attending that storied institution. I think Kelly came to visit him after speaking at the annual Bronko Nagurski Touchdown Club dinner in Charlotte last December. The Charlotte Observer ran a major profile on him several months ago.

You must be confusing him with another Elijah Hood.
"Elijah Hood turned some heads with his performance in the SPARQ competition placing 5th overall. Weighing in officially at 221 lbs, Hood ran an impressive 4.48 electronically timed 40 yard dash."

Well, lots of people disagree with you. He might not be the fastest running back in the world, but he's plenty fast. As someone else posted, he's recorded good 40 times. And on top of that, he shows good speed on his highlights. He's also a 5-star or high 4-star to all of the recruiting sites, IIRC.
And while you insist that he's more likely to be a linebacker, I'd say it's pretty rare to find a high Division I guy playing linebacker at 5'11". I know it happens sometimes, but not very often.

It's Friday, August 23rd. And I thought it was at noon, but I might be wrong about the time.

It would go against precedent, so Kelly says.

Always good to see a kid get smart before he makes a mistake. Don't feel bad for ND fans for 1 second.
