Ekpe Udoh now #13 on Chad Ford's Big Board
Granted Chad Ford's word is not gospel and that Ekpe probably wouldn't have developed as much in our system...damn would we be good with him. At the minimum we'd get great interior defense and rebounding. probably be a top 15 team...
excuse this massive what-if. that wisco loss, reading that post by the idiot who is sick of haiti ads and now this has really ruined my day. sigh...

Udoh is shooting 33% from 3 this year too, which is more than most of the current Michigan team can say.....

only attempted 13 3's so can't really use his percentage

Udoh's success is not good for Michigan. It shows recruits that a talented big man can do better than being in a 3-point contest offense. And honestly, I bet if Deshawn Sims played in a more traditional inside-out offense, he'd be looking at being drafted too.

Every system has some facet of an inside post game. It has to. Deshawn recently has skyrocketed his stats because he is the one guy on U-M who has an established post game. There is always plenty of work to do on the low block regardless of system. He may not get drafted because he is a 4 paling in the body of a 3.(Albeit a slightly tall 3, but still not big enough for a 4)

But so far, Michigan has not been able to get a dominant big man and part of the reason has to be the system. Maybe it's perception over reality?

Udoh left when the team was not experiencing success and changeover. This is a recipe for attrition... I would not say that his success has any translation to dissuading feature recruits.

was talking about leaving after his freshman year when TA was still the coach... so the though was always in the back of his head... i think he would have tansfered out no matter who the next coach was...

that it's Ekpe, not Epke (which i think was what he was often called when he was here...maybe why he left). But I wish him well either way...

Sorry if I missed this, but I never did hear the details behind his transfer.

claimed that he was home sick and as i said above he thought about leaving after his freshman year... but there are people that feel he left because of JB's system and that he wouldn't work in it....
