Very satisfying victory for the USMNT vs Mexico.

I assume the people who voted world cup are goofing on the lions and not serious.

I am not a Lions fan, maybe that makes me less pessimistic about their future, but it is not to see a team lousy for several decades become dominant for a decade. I would not be shocked if the Lions won the superbowl in ten years, in that span USA soccer gets only two cracks at winning world cup. I'd say better bet would be who wins first Lions superbowl or England world cup.

Weah man of the match.

I was skeptical of Zimmerman, but he played well defensively. It's just very hard to build out the back with him and Robinson.

There was no point in trying to build out of the back when we were winning all of the first and second headers.

It was infuriating in the first half to watch us try, only for there to be a miscommunication or a heavy touch or someone just losing the ball.

But then Steffen puts one a half field, we come down with it, one pass, two pass, and we're in.

Same with the corners.  We are winning headers and we keep hitting the corners and free kicks short or getting cute.

No, just put it on the back post and let someone fly in and head the ball into the next.  Which is eventually what happened.  If that's not Weah, that pass is on the ground to Pulisic.

Like Harbaugh says, there's more than one way to attack...let's go through the air.

Weah and Pulisic bring the US to another level offensively. Hats off to Steffen and the entire US defense against some skilled attackers. Strong effort in front of a great crowd!

Weah definitely the MOTM. I’ve seen some people saying Adams should be - he played well, but we don’t win that game without Weah (say, if GREGG started Ariola for instance….)

Awesome game. Nothing fluky about it. USA kicked their ass.

I turned on the game about 20 minutes in.  The rest of the first half looked pretty good from a US perspective.  (In fact, I'm not even sure Mexico had a corner kick the entire time from then out.)  Then I saw the halftime commentators talking about how Mexico had really looked good in the first half.  OK, so they showed some highlights of some nice saves by Steffen, which must have happened before 20 minutes, but.....otherwise it didn't seem like they were talking about the same game.

I can't even name the Mexican LB, but I read before the game that Tajon Buchanon abused him with his athleticism when Canada and Mexico played so the easy strategy for Berhalter was to play Weah on the RW and let him work.  Weah was great on the attack and helped out with Chucy Lozano on defense.  I keep saying we should move Reyna back to midfield and let Weah romp on the RW, and here's Exhibit A for how well that could work.

Pulisic will be on one wing and Aaronson and Weah have made it a really hard choice as to who plays on the other wing when Reyna comes back but I don't see us breaking up the Musah , Mckennie, Adams midfield. Reyna in the midfield just doesn't seem like an option if those 3 are all healthy (to be clear, Reyna is a better player than Musah right now, he just doesn't offer the same engine and bite that those 3 bring as a group)

We were a step off, particularly on defense, in the first half.  Thank God for Steffen, he kept us in the game.  Second half was a different story, we stepped it up.  Great win over a dirty team.

Encouraging that 16 players on the 25-man USMNT roster for these November matches are age 24 and younger and the oldest player (Sebastian Lletget) is 29. Mexico has nine players age 24 and younger and 11 players age 30 and older on their roster. Jamaica has five players 24 and younger and six players in their thirties, including West Ham’s all-time leading goal scorer, Michail Antonio, who could pose problems for the USMNT defense.

Losing both Miles Robinson and Weston McKennie for the Jamaica match could cause problems. Do Chris Richards and Kellyn Acosta start in their places?

I know that there’s no set roster for these matches, but I’m not sure whether Berhalter would add two players to the roster for the Jamaica match unless they’ve been training and traveling with the team this month. Would be nice to have Joe Scally earn his first cap if Berhalter decides to rest DeAndre Yedlin to avoid the risk of his getting another card.

Good to be leading the qualifying group with 14 points after seven matches, but third-place Canada with 13 points has yet to lose. They play Mexico on Tuesday.
