Does Helton staying at USC help M for DGW?

Need Darion Green-Warren to commit to the good guys big time. Would be a huge help at a position of need at corner.

Read from somewhere that he was waiting on the Urban and USC chatter to settle first. Also see that he has an official planned to Penn State on Dec 13th according to 247.

I think it helps us in recruiting.  First, no Meyer at USC.  Second, the situation is still so shaky that there still could be a coaching change in the near future.

I meant in recruiting. Almost all of the recruits currently committed to OSU were recruited by Meyer originally, some committed to him and just stayed committed to Day. You'd think a lot of them would have a hard choice to make if Meyer came back to coach before signing day.

Not to mention it could scavenge their depth chart with transfers.

What would hurt them even more is Herman or Jimbo getting their act together and keeping the Texas guys home.  OSU has a roster littered with 5 stars but they’ve especially cleaned up in Texas since Urbz expanded their recruiting footprint.

Much of this applies to the big 3 Florida schools also but the talent gap between Michigan and OSU is most glaring when it comes to TX players... Filiaga and the Green’s vs.  Dobbins, Okudah, Garrett Wilson and Barrett Browning.

USC having the 65th best recruiting class helps this DGW you speak of.  Helton is not the best recruiter, and I imagine he is going to hire some new assistants, which throws everything off.

Brandon was bad for the football program, but what good ADs did we have before him?  Bill Martin was more interested in his boat than Lloyd's replacement, Goss was a disaster, and Roberson accepted Moeller's resignation even though Bo wanted him to stay on as head coach.

Fact is, a good HC can only take you so far.  You need a good AD to give you all the support you need.  Mark Hollis and Gene Smith are well dressed grifters, but they give their HC all the support they need, even if that means turning a blind eye to GPAs and police reports.

It should help Michigan. It’s pretty easy to see Helton won’t be there for DGW’s whole career. Also it sounds like he’s down to us and Penn State right now anyways.
