Director's Cup update: Stanford will NOT be #1 in tomorrow's final standings, UofM 3rd
I'll be on the road when NACDA releases the final Director's Cup standings tomorrow, but I've already done the math. Unless I'm missing something big, Stanford will... NOT be #1 for the first time in 26 years!
That's right. They've finished #1 every year since the 1994-95 season. Instead, it looks like Texas will be the clear #1 this year, with Michigan barely scraping into 3rd by the tiniest of margins.
Official totals may differ slightly from my calcs, but I think it will look like this:
- Texas 1253.50
- Stanford 1195.75
- Michigan 1126.50
- North Carolina 1126.25 (yikes!)
- Florida 1122.75
- USC 1052.00
- Alabama 1017.42
- Arkansas 1005.25
- Ohio State 975.50
- Georgia 968.00
Again, don't hold me to those exactly, but I'm at least certain of the Texas bit. Which is actually huge news for this thing.
By the way, the reason Stanford fell from earlier preliminary results was because they score in so many sports, and there's a limit to how many you can count. So 6 of their sports were removed from the tally, whereas Texas had zero removed.
Not sure that I like Texas to be on top, but it breaks Stanford's reign (for at least one year anyway).
Arkansas is the only one that makes me ?
This all seems dumb.
Well, thisll surely make up for losing all those top instate recruits.
I'm surprised Aunt Becky didn't try to buy off the committee.
good fuck Stanfurd. ROLL ON YOU BEARS!
If Michigan's men's lacrosse comes around we may be able to jump to the top. Stanford and Tex don't have it. GO BLUE!
Look at it this way; we beat OH State by a big margin. MSU is nowhere to be found.
So you're saying we won the B1G Director's Cup? Hang the banner!
request a recount
The final standings have been released, confirming that Texas overtook Stanford, thanks to a very impressive showing in the Longhorns' Spring sports (accumulating 693.75 points, compared to Stanford's 473.75 points).
Thanks to Michigan's having led all Division 1 schools with 614.50 points for Winter sports, the Wolverines barely edged North Carolina for third place.
The final conference standings for Big Ten schools: Michigan (3), Ohio State (9), Minnesota (28), Iowa (30), Northwestern (31), Indiana (34), Nebraska (35), Wisconsin (37), Penn State (39), Maryland (46), Illinois (47), Rutgers (60), Michigan State (61), Purdue (68).
Among the top 25 schools in the final standings, the SEC had eight, the ACC had six, the Pac 12 had five, the Big 12 had three and the Big Ten was last among all Power Five conferences with only two. Brigham Young (17) was the lone school outside the Power Five to be among the top 25.
I mean this in the most respectful way possible...Fuck Texas. (Also, fuck being respectful about it)
Didn’t Stanford cancel 10 sports last year and then recently reinstate them.
