Basically, we got robbed. It was like the thing with Shegos and not being a good ref last year, where a legit goal was waved off, though this time it was in overtime. Also, Miami basically was able to get away with everything they wanted to in OT and nothing got called.

We scored in OT. Whistle blew half a second before because the ref was pinned in the corner way away and couldn't see the puck. Goal waved off. We hit the top cross bar in OT. Did not go in. Miami gets a quick turn around shot in 2OT. They win.

And skip right to overtime. Shot on Miami's goal (Hagelin, I think), the goalie Knapp blocks it but doesn't trap it. He freaks out like his dick is flying across the ice and attempts to both find and trap the puck. While this happens, Lynch comes up, finds the puck chilling out in the crease, and pumps it in easily. However, while Knapp was having spasms, the ref decided that because he lost sight of the puck due to his awful angle to blow his whistle less than a second after Hagelin's shot DESPITE EVERY PLAYER IN THE CREASE INCLUDING THE GOALIE ACTING LIKE THE PUCK IS LOOSE. Upon replay, puck crosses the goal line a hair after the premature whistle. Goal is waved off.

Getting a penalty called against MOFO turned out to be BAD for us, because the ref had his whistle ready to go as soon as one of their players got possession/handled/barely grazed the puck. So it's not that he was going to blow the whistle to freeze it, he blew it when the goalie touched it barely, even though the rule is to gain possession or handle the puck. If it were just touching the puck, then getting a delayed penalty could give us a DISadvantage... which... well, yeah. it did.

A brief summary: So we're up 2-1 in the second period, Miami is on the PP (they spent the whole game on the PP due to... dubious officiating). Hunwick makes a save, puck is underneath Hunwick's pad. No way in hell the referee can see the puck. Play continues, Miami guy wedges his stick under pad, puck goes in, 2-2. Fast forward to overtime! Hagelin does awesome BORK BORK BORK things, blows by everyone and goes for a wrap around, which is nearly successful. The very, very loose puck is jammed home for the win by Lynch. But the horribly out of position ref decided he had lost sight of the puck, so blew a quick whistle. He is an asshole.

It looked like the Wolverines won the game 2:37 into overtime when freshman Kevin Lynch knocked in a rebound, but a whistle had already blown to stop play when the official lost sight of the puck. Replays showed the puck was clearly loose in the crease, but the official called the play dead to call a penalty on Miami. Per Det News _____________- If the NCAA has any integrity, these refs would not be allowed to ref another tournament game.
