Devin Gardner's doppleganger

Submitted by Moleskyn on

So I've seen this guy on the sidelines a few times on TV wearing a headset, and I've thought "Wait a minute, why isn't Devin in uniform?" After seeing him on TV this past week with Devin obviously suited up, I decided to do some research, and shore 'nuff, Devin Gardner has a full-fledged doppleganger. His name is Roy Manning and he's listed on MGoBlue as an offensive graduate assistant coach. He played at UM from 2000-2004 and spent a few years in the NFL as a linebacker. See for yourselves:

Different nose, different ears, different eyes, different skin tone... they are both black and have the same general shape of the head, but this isn't that close.  Maybe they are both 6' 4ish and so they looks similar from a distance?  I will give your gameday experience the benefit of the doubt, so I will avoid passing judgment on this one.

I don't know how the pictures show up to you, but on my screen they're huge. In the original post, they appear much smaller and at a higher resolution. And you're right, these pictures don't totally show it, but there are literally no close-up shots of Devin smiling and no close-up shots of Roy looking pissed.

Also, just to show that I'm not just a racist white man, I was watching the ND game with a minority friend, and they showed a shot of Roy, and we both looked at each other and said, "Why isn't Devin in uniform?"

Also, don't judge me for my looks.

You're just embarrassing yourself.

I hope you never give an eyewitness ID in a criminal investigation, cause some poor innocent schmuck is going to jail.

As Markus and others have already pointed out, John Amos is the lookalike.

In the OP's defense, the graduate assistant coach does look very similar to Devin during the game footage.  He isn't the only person who wondered why Devin wasn't in uniform during the games.  However, the pictures the OP provided as evidence are not very similar at all.  Maybe someone could grab a screenshot from the game footage, it would likely be more compelling.
