Devin Asiasi Official

4* TE/DE Devin Asiasi is set to take an official to UM via Steve Lorenz http://michigan.247sports.com/Bolt/Top100-TE-Sets-Official-Talks-Michig… Asiasi is rated as a .97 composite, as well as a composite 50 overall. Watched him score a TD in the game All American game this past weekend. Could be a nice snag after missing out on Nauta. 247 Player Profile: http://247sports.com/Player/Devin-Asiasi-45512

This would be a HUGE get. Asiasi has been tearing it up at TE and he's got the athleticism to be a star at the position.

Nauta is the sure bet to be a solid player. But Asiasi could have the higher ceiling. I've heard people compare him to Antonio Gates.

I'll take one of those.

We've been recruiting him for a while now...but he seemed to be destined to stay on the west coach and we seemed to turn our attention to Nauta.

Asiasi, Crawford and KJ Costello were the California kids we've been trying to get since day 1. Costello chose Stanford and we immediately went to Peters. Asiasi seemed to be a "west coast kid," but now that it's getting late in the process...I think he's starting to realize that Michigan in Harbaugh's system could be his best shot at the NFL.

I thought he looked more like a DL than a TE (based on his body type). He didn't look real fluid running around as a TE. I'm sure he'd be good at either position though.

To me he seems like a bigger more athletic Khalid Hill...would be great to have another guy like that.. seems like he would be a solid blocker out of the backfield and short over the middle routes.

I'm curious if he will ever get the shot to commit. My guess is that Chase Allen will beat him to the punch, and I don't think we need three tight ends.

I don't think his rankings will change significantly at this point. However, I do like him as a prospect. I think he's similar to Ian Bunting, but probably more advanced as a blocker at this point. And I like Ian Bunting, who could very well step right into Butt's role when he's gone.

Michigan replaces Bama, so visits to Michigan, USC, UCLA, and U-Washington. How F'd up is it that college football puts Bama on a list of college visits with USC, Ucla, and Michigan for a California kid.

Sorry, I mean when looking at universities, Alabama is not in the same league (academic rankings) with the others and if not for football, few people from a state like California (with no geographic tie to Alabama) would consider Alabama in the same context as Michigan, USC, and UCLA.

I like his tape, he plays with an edge and mean streak.  He shows excellent pad level and a thirst for blocking, as well as enough athleticism and hands to become a receiving threat.

I dont see the next Gronk, or even Butt on his tape, as a receiver at this point...but overall he has a physical presence that you want in a blocking TE.  This kid loves pancakes.  His route running and quickness should improve with his exposure to a college s&c program and Jaybaugh.
