Desmond Howard and THE punt return & THE classic Heisman pose in The Game

Submitted by Carcajou on November 26th, 2021 at 7:58 AM

With this year being the 30th anniversary of one of the most iconic plays of the rivalry (and Keith Jackson's most classic call); and with Game Day and Desmond in Ann Arbor - and probably in the house for the game - will Michigan do anything to honor this play at the game?

(Maybe between the quarters, or at a crucial time out)

Never gets old. I can imagine it would really pump the players and the crowd if they had a chance see a and celebrate it.

I'd take that (*and* the Woodson punt return) over the usual menu (James Earl Jones "Best university in the world!" BS and the announcement of the Slippery Rock score). They should play them both early.

Carcajou---Thanks for reposting this here; I'll now go ahead and delete it from the diaries.

That video is a great new way of watching Desmond and his punt return and Heisman pose.  I agree, it would be great if it's shown on the scoreboard tomorrow.

I was in the southwest endzone, 7 rows up with a girlfriend who was an OSU freshman cheerleader I met while working at Cedar Point for the summer that year. Yes, she was super cute, she worked on the Space Needle, I worked Demon Drop . Awful tickets as most action on was other end of field, paid $20 each and it seemed like a lot to pay until that play and that pose.  No marshmallows because I was not in student section but was so close I could've tossed one in his face mask.  Lost the voice enjoying the best game moment ever.  Still smile big thinking about that moment, that day and that girl every time it is shown.

Putting this up on the scoreboard during the game would be like the scoreboard operators at Yost putting up a congratulatory graphic about shutouts when Michigan is leading 1-0 with five minutes still to play.

I watched that game yesterday on B1G Network. Howard also made two key receptions that were down field and in sloppy conditions to boot. It took a generational player like Howard to win in The Game. Although the score was 31-3 blowout, Howard was the dagger that killed off the Buckeyes in that 1991 game.

I'd love to see something close to that tomorrow for the Maize and Blue! Who will that person be?
