I don't know whether I should rejoice at the prospect of a victory or whether I should be absolutely, irrevocably terrified that we lose that game. Maybe both. I am generally not one for "must-win" games, but let's be clear: after App. State and Toledo last year, this is a "must-win" game.

From where we sit right now this is ok, but we need to ramp the scheduling back up after this year, Rod should have the team rolling and we should give the fans something worth seeing.

We were first looking at Delaware U. so it could be the battle of "similar uniforms" but now we go with Delaware State. Is there some recruit we are eyeing from Delaware for the 2010 class?

Not sure we'll even draw 100,000 for that game, especially if the team gets off to a slow start this year. Wow, the scheduling is a far cry from what it once was, but I guess thats the new reality of the day. Would have lost a lot of those post turkey day bets to!!!

Our attendance figures are based on sold tickets plus gameday attendees (players, coaches, band, media, etc.). Assuming we sell out our season tickets, as always, we'll have an announced draw of 100,000+ for all games, including that one. If our attendance streak actually covered games in which 100K were physically present, it would have been snapped a few times when we had horrid weather ('95 Purdue and '08 Northwestern come to mind).

In all honesty... A confidence builder is more important than a statement game. Let's ROLL hard on these guys-- Overall it'll be good for the season

Looking at this fill game from a tactical point of view. It may be the RR is quietly trying to stretch his recruiting game out. This is DSU’s recruiting class for 2009. George Bansah DL 6-1/265 Woodbridge, Va./Potomac HS Aaron Boyd OT 6-5/325 Alexandria, Va./Fork Union Military Academy Kyle Brown K 5-10/160 Laurel, Del./Laurel HS Brandon Cunningham C 6-2/260 Lumberton, N.J./Rancocas Valley HS Quinton Fortes DE 6-3/230 Reston, Va./South Lakes HS Darryl Hicks OT 6-4/300 Boston, Mass./Hudson Valley (N.Y.) CC Geoff Hicks WR 6-5/200 Cheektowaga, N.Y./Alfred State JC Jadira Green DT 6-4/300 Washington, D.C./Oxon Hill HS Chris Johnson QB 6-2/215 Paterson, N.J/Boston College/Kennedy HS Kristian Johnson TE 6-3/255 Philadelphia, Pa./Bonner HS Ryan Langdon TE 6-4/235 Philadelphia, Pa/Father Judge HS Byron Lewis DL 6-2/240 Virginia Beach, Va./Tallwood HS Tahree McQueen RB 5-10/200 Paterson, N.J./Cincinnati/Eastside HS Oscar Palmer DB 5-9/180 Pasadena, Cal./Pierce Junior College (Cal.) Aaron Richardson DL 6-1/230 Washington, D.C./St. John’s HS Ernest Robinson DL 6-1/295 Brandywine, Md./Gwynn Park HS If kids from these schools/towns/citys see these players playing Michigan...they may become interested in Michigan. Just a thought Also..for the record...we should not be taking anyone for a "cream puff"...Have we not learned anything the past couple of years?

Looks like they had a mobile QB who just graduated; the next guy on the depth chart doesn't appear to be a threat with his legs. Not that I don't have full confidence in GERG to end our woes against mobile QBs...

In 09...there is no such thing as a “cup cake” team. Every team we play our goal should be to not only win...but to destroy with extreme prejudice. Play every team, every single down with the same fierceness as we play OSU! On another note...Maybe with our new recruits, RR will be able to open the playbook a little more. Hell...I would go further and have different playbook just for OSU. Practice them but never use them until that game

Appy State should have taught the administration that these games against 1AA opponents are no win situations. I understand the scheduling limitations, but would have rather seen them work out something with Minnesota or whoever else is off our schedule this year for a home and home when those teams are off the schedule. In fact, I would rather see the 12th game be one more big ten game per year if this is crap we are subjected to.

I agree with J. Lichty. We get absolutely nothing but ticket/concession revenue from these games against FCS schools. If we win, so what? If we lose this game, it will again be THE BIGGEST UPSET IN THE HISTORY OF CIVILIZATION, just like everyone [incorrectly] thought the Toledo loss was.

You are all crazy. I like this opponent for a few reasons. First, our team needs games like this to build confidence and offensive rhythym. Second, MIch. WILL win this game BIG, and it's sad to see so many people on here giving Delaware state a chance. Finally I saw someone say losing this would be bad for recruiting? No shit Sherlock. I would be on the fire RRod bandwagon if he lost to Del. State.
