Deception in football: Mike Leach & the Red River Game of 1972
In spirit of all the signs/countersigns drama that we're dealing with, thought I would link to this article of one of the best stories involving deception ever.
Love him or hate him, Mike Leach was legend.
Sports Illustrated 2018 article about the 1972 Red River Game, when Leach was the OC for the Sooners.
Enjoy!

Mike Leach was the OU OC when he was only 11? Impressive.

I was about to say, "Man, that guy's career was insanely long."

Edit 1999 game. Not 1972! (Thank you McSomething)
But 1972 Oklahoma spied on Texas practices by having spy posing as a painter.

At this point, I realize I'm probably reaching the cusp of a ban hammering, but this exact story has been posted many, many, many times in various threads already.
If we won't prevent people from people from posting things two, three, fifty times in a row, what's the point?

agreed. again, this is why a snowflake thread (an enforced one) is a good idea. very VERY few of these "here's a thing, comments?" threads need to exist.

"Mike Leach paid Lloyd Carr a vintage Jaguar for Texas's playbook two weeks before that game." ~Vols fanboys

I saw people trash talking us about TCU using our sign stealing against us. I respect their gamesmanship. They countered our punches instead of snitching us to the teacher like Cryin Ryan Day.

I mean, those were horribly designed plays regardless of signs being stolen, I feel like Weis called that whole game. 3-3 stack? No problem!

Opponent Watch (the weekly feature) seems so aptly named now.

Except if you are Michigan. Then it's attempted homicide.
