I know there was a thread yesterday when David Molk entered the Eagles-Redskins game.  That said, it appears with this news, Molk will be seeing extensive playing time going forward.

Although none of us enjoys celebrating the injury of another football player, Eagles starting center Jason Kelce, who arguably has been playing at an All-Pro level since missing 2012 with an ACL injury, is out for reportedly the next 2+ months with a sports hernia.  Enter one of our past heroes -- David Molk.

In this most desperate of Michigan-fandom-times, it is nice to be able to cling to any silver-lined grey cloud in sight.  Molk endured an incredibly tumultuous time period while wearing the winged helmet.  He was completely out of football last year, with his dream of playing professional football in doubt.  Now, he's the starting center for a Top 5 NFL offense that schematically fits his playing style quite well.  With solid play over the next 8-10 weeks, it's possible Molk can carve out a stable NFL future.

Maybe there is hope left in the world.

This is probably one of the more refreshing threads in the last 24 hours or so actually, and indeed, it is very good news. Glad to see Molk (and any past Wolverine) get a shot like this even though it comes under the sad cloud of an injury to one of his teammates.

but I was watching the Eagles game and when Kelce went out and Molk came in, the line was awful. I think Foles wasn't even hit in the 1st half, but was beaten to a pulp after Molk (ganted, the Eagles have other OL issues and Peters was suspended during the game).

Maybe with a week of practice with the 1st team, he'll improve.

How's Brandon Graham doing on the Eagles? I didn't notice him, but hear he is getting a shot as a pass rusher.

in a post game interview regarding Mccoys run production-"Washington was stacking the box and we had to go to the passing game."   I agree with you guys, Mccoy had a hard time getting out of the backfield.  I might be mistaken but I thought Molk actually started in an earlier game as a guard for an injured player?

I'll begin with the following disclosure -- I'm an Eagles fan.  I didn't think this was worthy of a new thread, but I've been enjoying today's debate as to whether or not people think the Chris Baker-on-Nick Foles hit yesterday was a good football play or one of the cheapest shots in recent memory.

For those who didn't see the game or the highlights, Nick Foles throws an apparent interception in the 2nd of half of yesterday's game (it would later be overturned upon review).  During the end of the interception return, Chris Baker destroys Nick Foles with a blind-side block.  Following the hit, Eagles starting All-Pro LT Jason Peters went after Baker.  Baker would be ejected for the hit.  Peters was ejected for throwing a punch at Baker

According to Rule 12, section 2, article 7 of the NFL rulebook, “it is a foul if a player initiates unnecessary contact against a player in a defenseless posture,” including “a quarterback at any time after a change of possession.”

Here's a stillshot of the hit:

No! Not possible! We're not allowed to have good football news!

But in all seriousness, that's awesome for Molk. He's deserved a chance to show what he can do. Hope he can make the most of it.
