David Long to the Rams (3rd round, 16th pick)

Pretty good spot for him - Rams were in dire need of help at CB, and this was on the upper end of where I saw him go in mocks.

Great spot, congratulations to him

It's funny it seems I know so little about him.  He didn't seem to be interviewed much, and on the field he was never challenged.  So not a ton of plays, not a lot of heavy memories. I know he was great and that allowed Brown to run his defense. But the plays where he blanketed someone ended in Winovich or Bush sack rather than a pick.

One of the least-heralded elite Michigan players of the past 20 years.

Lockdown corner in college with the size and athleticism to be long starter in the league.

Higdon and Gentry, but longer shots on both at this stage. HIgdon still behind undrafted guys like Weber from OSU, Dexter Williams from ND, and Bryce Love from Stanford. ESPN has him as 10th best RB on board as of right now. Gentry similar - 10th best tight end available to ESPN. a lot can happen in final rounds of the draft though so we'll see.

Nice spot for him.  Same with Chase.  Feels like a lot of guys are going to good fits later in the draft.

My guess is Higdon gets drafted late and maybe Gentry sneaks in, but this feels about it for UM draft guys this year.  Not a bad showing.

While I am sad that my Lions are apparently too drunk to get through a draft without making quizzical picks at best, I like where Long landed here - home, first and foremost, but also a system that suits him, I think.

Since the 1976 draft, Detroit has drafted:

10 guys who played for Texas;

9 guys who played for PSU;

7 guys who played for Michigan;

7 guys who played for Purdue;

4 guys who played for MSU;

4 guys who played for OSU.

In that same time span, Detroit has drafted 5 guys who played for Hawaii.

Since the 1970 draft—the first draft after Schembechler arrived—guess how many draft choices in the first three rounds Detroit has used to select Michigan players, 79 of whom were All-Americans during their Michigan careers.

Three.

In 50 years.

(Given the incredible ineptitude of the franchise for all but a handful of years during this past half-century, I'm not complaining about the small number of Michigan players drafted by the Lions)

So I saw a video on the LA Rams twitter account where hes speaking to the coaches and I find it odd they made it a point for him to speak to the safeties coach. Could that be his position in the NFL?
