Forgive me, but so few of these sports "writers" are good at writing to begin with, practice the investigative art or methodology of journalism. They tend to be a certain kind of latter-day hustler, looking for angles to summon eyeballs and clicks.

Why are we rushing to rehabilitate people who have spent months trying to damage Michigan and its reputation?

No idea what the future holds but today, and forever, we are champions.

Thank you, Coach. You've done what I thought was impossible, even just 3 years ago. You are a legend and I wish you nothing but the best. I hope you retire here, but even if you move on, you will always be the man who returned us to glory. Thank you.

Go Blue!

Not sure I agree that this is a good take. It’s backhanded compliments. It’s amplifying the BS that the NCAA and B1G threw at us. It’s treating stuff like satellite camps like they were an affront to the sport.

This is shade. I didn’t feel great reading that “boy howdy that cheater sure can coach” kind of narrative.

Yep. Fuck him. Saban has been paying his players for years. Competitive advantage? Hell yeah. When the playing field levels out, Saban folds. Harbaugh is on top of the world even though he refuses to pay for play. How sweet is that? These writers have to dig deep and call everyone out instead of singling out one person when that person is being true to himself.

And you’ve got Pete “The Penis Head” Finebaum, who couldn’t wait to wake up this morning to tell the world Harbaugh is as good as gone to the NFL.

These clowns can all eat a mountain of poo. Can’t go a day without hate. What a way to live your life.

Jim Harbaugh may be going to the NFL, but I can't help but think that all these idiots acting like its a done deal could spur Harbaugh to decide to just come back.  Harbaugh is the most unpredictable and confusing figure college sports has had in a while.  It is clear he loves his players and he loves this University.  Please keep having takes like this Pete and the rest of the ESPN degenerates because it may just help Jim make up his mind. Go Blue!

I don’t think he leaves. My son showed my a tik tok or maybe it was a Snapchat or a Twitter x (don’t really care) from his daughter. She said that he loves Michigan football with all his heart. I’m sure my gut is wrong, but the guy seems happy where he’s at. The family celebrating last night was a beautiful thing to see.

I agree with PopeLando - that was a story filled with grudging backhanded compliments.  It doesn't deserve the upvotes.  The only 'controversies' started by Harbaugh are the ones that everybody else complained about because he was inching in on someone else's domain.

Satellite camps - perfectly legal and great for HS players.  Shutdown by the SEC and ACC because they exposed southern players to northern schools.

Arguing with other coaches?  Always - and only - in response to someone else's attacks on his players or program.

Shirtless camps?  He was in a game of football with players from a camp - shirts and skins.  Something everyone of us has done in the past.

Fuck off, Wetzel.  But lease keep hating - it drives sweet, delicious tears...

Harbaugh just flipped the bird to NCAA, B1G commissioner, B1G coaches, ESPN and those weasels who call themselves media personnel. Guy is true to himself. On top of the world. Glorious. He made everyone eat their words. Not many can do that. Go Blue! Whatever happens with his contract, he is an icon at Michigan and that cannot changed or denied.

I mean, I get Harbaugh doesn't care about public perception but by this account, he is a reckless maniac with no regard for others. The accounts of his players and those who know him indicate otherwise.

If I am Santa Ono and Ward Manuel, I would not let Jim decision to go to the NFL be on easy one.  I've heard "matching" NFL money, but that will not be enough to turn him back.

Throw down a huge number, like $18M/year for 10 years with no NFL interest unless mutually acceptable.

Give him a statue in his #4 jersey and headset on.

Plan to name a building the "Harbaugh Family Legacy Center".

Build his family a mansion in Ann Arbor.  Give each of his young kids acceptance letters NOW.

The athletic department budget is $215M, $50M for Football alone.   It receives $80-$100M from the Big Ten from TV rights.  The money will continue to grow.  Make him the highest paid coach in America, by far.

Replacing Bo and Lloyd started decades of "Dark Times".  There may be qualified coaching candidates to replace Jim, but why change?   Keep a good thing going.   He is 60, lock him up until he wants to retire.

The contract has to raise his eyebrows.   Show him the love that no NFL team can offer.  Get him the NIL support so it's never an issue for the players he wants.  He can create a Legendary Dynasty and be the nation's leading advocate for paying student-athletes.  Support him with a team of lawyers fighting the NCAA.

He doesn't have to leave Michigan to make him feel better.   He can make a difference right in here in Ann Arbor.  Make the offer TOO GOOD to pass up.

Matching NFL is not enough.

I agree and all these things can and should be done, except I don't think admissions will allow for the letters. Other than that, there's every reason to do the things you named. This program is set up to keep being a contender for YEARS if Harbaugh is retained. If not, you never know because even a slight regression can put you into the 6-10 range and without a great chance to win it from one year to the next (see: OSU).

As much as I want Harbaugh to stay,  as much as I want Warde and Ono to shower Jim with all the love, if Harbaugh would leave this job for that amount of $ to stand on the sidelines of Al Davis inbred, dumb and dumber, red haired soulless, bowl hair cut son then he needs to take that job and hand the keys to Sherron Moore.  If San Diego (I definitely take my fam to SD before Vegas) and the ex wives play nice is calling you take it.

After winning a NC and experiencing that with that group is not enough to make you sign on at your alma-mater and be "Bo" incarnate for millions there is nothing more to offer beyond $$$ for the staff.

Thank you Jim

Please make the choice best for you and your family.
