It's something new and could be unique and memorable (hopefully for winning reasons) Also West Virginia have a uniform combination of yellow jerseys with white pants and socks, I think the white away pants with maize jerseys would be very different but look good with the winged helmet. Just beat the gators

I'm not enthused, but there are a couple of good reasons to dial back the anger here. 1. Michigan is the designated road team in a neutral site game. It's the logical time to float an alt uniform, especially one this loud. 2. We haven't seen these in action yet. Uniforms like this can be wildly different depending upon how they're executed. For example, if you discuss Michigan wearing "all white," you generally mean the well-built unis they've worn on the road for a couple of years now. Some prefer Maize pants, but all agree that they are crisp, good uniforms. However, "all white" also describes the bumblebee unis, which combine a horrible design with a bad font and terrible craftsmanship to produce an embarrassing jersey with boring, plain white pants. Same idea, executed horribly. Let's see how these are executed. (I expect to find them annoying).

That's true, I thought that this jersey was atrocious when they first announced it:

But when we finally got to see them on the field I loved them:

The difference is, those were still the same color jersey, helmet, and pants.

An all maize jersey is such a foreign concept for Michigan that it won't look anything like anything we've seen before. I just hope our performance on the field is enough of a distraction. Ugh.

I highly doubt those Jerseys in the picture will be worn by Michigan. 1 they look like cheap crappy 80ies jerseys and 2. those all have nike symbols and Jordan brand outfits Michigan football.

Refresh my memory. Has Michigan ever won a football game wearing an alternate uniform? We lost to South Carolina, lost to Michigan State, lost to Alabama with those maize trimmed shoulders, and evidently tied with Navy in 1928. Maybe there were some wins I don't recall? EDIT: Yes, Notre Dame. THAT game was great.

Why do we keep screwing with one of the best uniforms in sports? You don't see PSU, Bama, Texas or USC screwing with their uniforms so why do we insist on marching out crappy alternate after crappy alternate

You act like Michigan has alternate uniforms all the time. They are not even close to Oregon like. Oh and there are tradition rich programs who do change their uniforms sometimes, like Ohio State, Oklahoma, etc.

In the lifetime of Michigan football, it's been very frequent lately. UTL1, the night game vs PSU, the bowl game vs South Carolina, the Bama game, the bumblebee game, the numbers on the helmets, the helmet stickers, and now maize jerseys.

For some reason in the last decade or so, it seems we suddenly can't resist screwing with our uniforms in someway and I just don't know why. We have great uniforms.

This is the Oregon effect.  Go back 10 years and see how many teams even had a 3rd jersey.  Not many

Now, every school has a 4 jerseys, 3 helmets, and all meet the minimum requirement of either a matte helmet, a chrome helmet, or a gray/anthracite jersey.

The kids think it's awesome and schools recruit kids.  *shruggy emoji*

I am ok with alternates except an all out Maize seems to undermine the helmet, which is #1 attraction. I will reserve the judgment until I see it on the field. Have to save up for bitching the game day blog. LOL. Go Blue!

Now people who like to wear jerseys to the game, but also like to paticipate in maize-outs can be happy.

Not a fan. But this sort of thing doesnt rise to the level of me giving a shit. I assume that these sorts of institutional decisions are for the best in terms of building the brand, national interest, and recruiting, and I just leave it there.

Now, playcalling, penalties, preparedness, and the like, that's what gets my blood pumping.
