Conelius Jones on local TV
This isn't groundbreaking or anything super important but thought you guys might like to hear it regardless.
Conelius was on my local news station talking about signing day, CFB, etc. I live in the Upstate of SC, about 40 minutes from his high school. Here are a few points he made.
*He basically said he was eternally grateful to his HS football coaches for giving him second chances and allowing him to play football. He also said he was equally grateful to the Michigan coaching staff for giving him his shot and he would be open to getting on the field in any situation or position.
*He never thought he would be able to predict that he would be earning a Michigan degree and is very excited to not only become a Wolverine football player, but a student as well. Said that Michigan's academics were something to be proud of and he was looking forward to college life.
*Said that while many kids get more nervous and think about switching commitments, his became stronger as NSD approached. He said he wakes up every morning thinking about being in Ann Arbor.
*Michigan was like a family and it didn't take much to sway him into becoming a Wolverine. Said that everyone treated him with respect and he looked forward to joining the "brotherhood" (There is that word again...suck it FreeP).
He seemed very level-headed and genuine. Spoke very well and mature. I look forward to seeing this fellow South Carolinian in the Maize and Blue!

man i wish all kids were like that. i love this recruiting class, its very solid from top to bottom with alot of sleepers and undervalued kids.

Great to hear. I think the best answer to the RR busters is to hear what the kids WHO STAY say about him. Good to hear what they kids who haven't even started say too.

I can honestly say that is the first time this has happened. I blame Drew Sharp.

I thought editing just took out the typo. Didn't know I'd waste space with a double-dip, correction or no. Sorry.

Woot. That's awesome, I'll look for that. I'm kinda surprised, living in the Upstate also, how little air time it seems that Conelius is getting, considering that he is heading to a top program nationally.
SportsBrewKings, what school district do you live in? I used to live in Dorman High's district, but last year I moved over to Eastside in Greenville. (I'm out of college, but districts are a decent geographic locator)

I disagree, he got a ton of press before the season, during the season, and around Shrine Bowl time. He's gotten less local press around NSD probably because (1) he's not going to USC or Clemson and (2) he's not staying locally. It'd be nice to see more (of course), but I actually can't think of another player here in the Upstate that got more press than Jones did this year who didn't stay local and didn't play for Byrnes.

I live in Anderson's School District 1. I actually work for them too. :) I went to Winthrop University and now live in Pelzer...a REALLY small town.
I drive to Ann Arbor once a year for a game. I love visiting Detroit/AA and immediately heading back into "Smalltown USA". Its a very strange/funny feeling.

I will keep an eye out for it as well. I live in Simpsonville. I didn't know there were that many Michigan fans/alumni in the upstate. Dakotapalm, are you the guy driving south down I-385 with the Michigan license plate holder who I yell "go blue" at every morning? I wish there was an upstate alumni association. It is nice to see some Blue fans in the upstate.

No, but that sounds fun. I'll try it sometime. I actually work for Costco in Spartanburg. (while I'm waiting for a teaching position to open up) I've actually run into a lot of Michigan alums there at work. Drive 85 and we can yell at each other, though.

Yeah, there are a ton of Michigan fans here. It really surprised me when we first moved here and it still does sometimes. I was leaving church a week or two ago and on the coat rack next to my umbrella was a Michigan hat. See stuff like that all the time.

Sounds like he'll stick out all 4 years too.

your going to love it. Wish you the best of luck, your friends and family must be very proud.

Anybody else notice how often that word has been used in the last year or so? Just thought it's interesting given the opinions of some.

The adversity these "questionable kids" have dealt with will be focused into ripping our opponents to shreds. I'm glad that RR is recruiting kids with character like Conelius. It's not often that someone is willing to play anywhere.
