Isnt it really about the Hawaii players. If we did a noon kickoff, that would be what — 6 am their time? Against a much physically superior opponent?  It’d be unhealthy and certainly even less competitive.  And moving 4 hours later to late-afternoon is only marginally better.  It’s still be a 10 am kickoff to them.

And then you have to factor the jetlag, which for west-to-east is brutal for a day or two later esp from Hawaii to EST.  If they were pros, they’d come out early in the week to get time-adjusted   They may not really have that option (or the funds to house a whole college team an extra few nights).

"They (Texas) would be in the upper half of the SEC". This is what you get when you play "SEC quality teams".

If I replaced Texas with USC and SEC with Big Ten, I think that would sound incredibly insulting. If I were Sarkisian, I just might use that as motivation.

It truly says something about your slate of college football today when THIS is where Game Day goes.  The Alabama Death Star against a team that is 20-15 the last three seasons.

Looking around, it is truly slim pickings.  Maybe Florida/Kentucky?  Baylor/BYU?  Very few matchups that sound interesting at all.  Southern Cal @ Stanford maybe?  It's on the same time as our game with Hawaii but still interesting to see the Trojans go from 4-8 last season to already ranked in the top ten in week two.

But back to the "game of the day."  Alabama is going to win by at least 35, and then they'll get sexually serviced by the media so hard you'd think they just destroyed a top five opponent.  Yay?

There is always at least one week of the regular season that is a complete snoozer. Usually the second to last week is a snoozer too since the SEC is playing a bunch of snoozers before their respective rivalry games.

There could still end up being some really interesting games today, but yeah there’s always at least one week where no ranked teams play each other.
