Because after this off-season we'll take whatever football we can get... and who knows how much will actually get to happen this fall?

Enjoy it while you can!

(Just watch there be announcement this afternoon that game is postponed due to positive covid tests this morning... because of course there would.)

True, my overall interest in the season will be diminished with UM out - but the main reason I even started paying attention to the rest of CFB was because of its effect on UM ranking.  Nowadays college sports are about the only ones I still care to follow... so I'll still watch.

My interest has diminished to the vanishing point.  A symptom of COVID depression.  The entire rhythm of things is fucked up. No fans in the stands. Stanley Cup playoffs in September. Same with the NBA. Big Ten football in February? Seven inning doubleheaders. Bars closed. Gyms closed. Movie theaters closed. Schools closed. No handshakes. No hugs. No mask no service. No fun. No shortage of insanity.

Told mgowife last night I'm quite ready to move to remote Ecuador. And, in the most disorienting thing of all, she agrees.

Commenting on moving to Ecuador: if you think the lockdowns and restrictions were harsh in the our USA, they were and are much more worse elsewhere. The Caribbean Islands not only shut down tourism, the locals could only only go to the grocery store twice a week (St Maarten, St Kitts and Nevis). Things are not as restrictive down there nowadays as they were from April into June. Tourism is limited and entertainment places are ordered to close at 10 PM. In spite of these precautions, yep, COVID cases are rising down there again (and the governments down there are freaking out). Even Australia and New Zealand have some harsh restrictions in place.

Why not go to Sweden where you can do most of those things and masks arent even required?

Yet somehow. They've managed to control the spread of the virus. And may even be better prepared for potential future spread

Man, it's almost like the "trust the science" people have no f'n clue what they are doing

Sweden also has socialized medicine, which is at least potentially important.

It does not appear that Sweden has achieved herd immunity (which was the goal of the minimal restrictions)--it's probably too soon to tell.

In the meantime, Sweden has by far the highest number of deaths per capita among the Nordic countries--576 deaths per million vs 108 for Denmark, 49 for Norway, and 60 for Finland.

The US has 563 deaths per million.

It's about controlling the rate of spread (R0) and sweden is currently doing much better than we are despite having no mask mandate. Sweden may have achieved some level of herd immunity. Some experts theorize herd immunity may be achieved at a rate of between 10-20%. If so, they would be better prepared against potential future outbreaks. The point is, it's all speculative, no one knows for sure. But everyone's acting like they have all the answers. They need to justify their desire to control the lives of people around them. People are scared of their own mortality and rather accepting it, they think they can control it by influencing the behaviors of others. Sorry, were all going to die. Please let us live our lives while we are still here. Thanks

What experts? The my pillow guy?

You need like 80-90% for herd immunity. That's why we see measles outbreaks in communities with low vaccination rates.

Also, we have never, not once in all of human history, achieved herd immunity without a vaccine. Ever.

Is Game Day being broadcast adhering to Social Distancing like CNBC does?

Davis, Herbstreit, and Howard broadcasting from their living rooms while Corso is broadcasting from the facility's bingo room?

Yes!  Can’t wait!  I watched part of both high school games on ESPN last night and it was the most normal looking sports I’ve seen since March.

I'll be tuning in. Watched the HS games last night as well. I wish Michigan were playing, but not going to let that ruin my enjoyment of watching football (however much there is) this fall.

Sure beats the interminable dross of reruns and nonstop politics that floods our screens now anyway. Watch it now and enjoy it while you can.

If I was a fan of, coached for or played for these schools I’d be absolutely pumped right now. You’re the only game in town and you’re in prime time. This country is starved for football right now. This is a huge recruiting and brand building opportunity for them.

I have to believe that this dog meat game will draw more viewers than either of the Republican or Democratic National Conventions, e.g. I'll watch it while I couldn't bear watch either of those political sideshows over who is more deserving of a place at the public trough.
