Clearing the air on Caris LeVert: an appreciation thread

Submitted by taistreetsmyhero on

I'm not sure that I've ever followed a team with such a roller-coaster player. As a fan, when you're experiencing the Caris LeVert ride, it can be very emotionally draining. I, for one, have been guilty several times this year of complaining about the downs without properly acknowledging the ups--and there have been many ups, and they have been very huge, and today they were extremely clutch.

17 points (3-5 from 3; 1-5 from 2; 6-7 FT), 8 boards!!! (leading rebounder), 3 assists, only 1 foul, and 3 turnovers.

So here's to you, Caris LeVert!

As you asked I can only think of Todd Jones.... I can't fathom how he could have a 5ish ERA and 40something games saved... you just know he can get things done and worry about him at the same time

This was more or less on par with another excellent LeVert performance at Wisconsin, of course, where he had 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. I know people talk about his up-and-down performance, but let us remember that he does average 12 points per game with abour 4 rebounds and 3 assists - he's definitely present and contributing.

The good news is that for every "why the fuck did he do that" play Caris now giving us two or sometimes three "how the fuck did he do that" play to counter it.

He is simultaniously the most agonizing yet supremely talented player I've seen in a while.  There isn't much he can't do and at the same time it seems like he's involved in most of the "oh God no - don't do that" plays in a game.

I'm just glad Good Caris is starting to overwhelm Bad Caris.

I posted somewhere earlier this week that some Sparty fan friends of mine, were more afraid of Levert than Stauskus.  I missed out on the Posbang and most of the game.  I had to plow.  Sucks to be me, but I am loving this team!

To me he has a little Manny Harris in him. Luckily we don't have just 2014 Manny Harris. This kid is a sophomore that was projected to redshirt last year. A senior LeVert will be impressive.

I agree he makes mistakes that seem to get me to over look his overall impact on the game. I was more aware of this last night and when he made mistakes I simply sat back and waited for him to make up for them, and he did. We need LeVert and we need to remember he is still a young and developing player. Love ya LeVert!

He'll be a four year player with a full suite of skills and will be a full fledged team leader. I have a feeling he'll leave a very impressive legacy here.

The biggest knock on LeVert is that we are looking for him to be something that he, at times, has the ability to be.

But if we were to remember who LeVert was when he came here, who he started off as and how he has grown, it's much easier to appeciate what he has been able to do.  This is a kid who will be a four year player.  Not everyone can be a Hardaway/Morris/Burke/Stauskas. This is a kid who will be a MONSTER as Jr and Sr.  Can't wait.

Appreciation!
