Chase Winovich Presser

"What kind of strides did the offensive line take this Fall?"

I knew that was going to be asked

Led by Ben Bredeson and company...

They've really taken the next step.

It's amazing some of the stuff he (Shea Patterson) does... He knows he can play football

A lot of concerns (about the team and coaching) have been squished out

Notre Dame will say a lot about the trajectory of the team

I personally felt a lot of changes had to be made... I think we've addressed a lot of those

(Milton) has some strides to go mentally

Notre Dame... they finish blocks... you see them, every play, they're blocking until the whistle...

Wimbush... when he gets in the right lane opening, he can scoot...

I tell you what, Zach Gentry had one heck of a camp... some of the things he did popped out of nowhere...

This is the best camp I've ever had... staying healthy...

Notre Dame... it's not like I'm going to do anything different... I'm going to go out and be myself...

"What do you think of the captains selection?"... it stung a little but... but... I didn't come back to win a popularity contest...

If we weren't better than last year it would be a huge disappointment to all concerned...

Hurt me in my feels when he said "it stung a little bit". Winovich will be a strong leader for this team throughout the season. Looking forward to seeing him continuing his rise from 2017!

I am sure Chase is a well liked teammate, but we don't know the internal dynamics of the locker room. I imagine its combo of things..like the "popularity contest," but also wouldn't surprise me if certain guys think Chase's happy go lucky attitude isn't right for captaincy, as well as the fact that he gets a ton of attention (his play, his do good stuff off the field, his hair, etc)..that can turn some guys off. As he said, "he wasn't captain before and isn't now. Things won't change."

It surprised me that they picked two senior captains (Karan Higdon and Tyree Kinnel) and two junior captains (Ben Bredeson and Devin Bush). Was it pre-determined that there would be two seniors and two juniors?

IF the captaincy had been limited to seniors and fifth-year players, AND four captains were to be chosen, then I would’ve expected Chase Winovich, Tyree Kinnel, Karan Higdon and either Grant Perry or Zach Gentry to have been selected as captains.

The last couple of minutes remind me of Zordich’s press conference a couple weeks back where he was just beaming and said “tell them I love them” instead of calling anyone out. Chase looks like he feels, ahem, pretty good, about the team. That gives me smiles.

I thought he was an obvious choice for captain before any of the guys that were chosen. I don't want to say the others weren't deserving, but Chase was also deserving.
