Joey Velaquez, hit .255 (70-for-275) with nine home runs and a .340 OBP in baseball.  In football, he had seven tackles and recovered one fumble on special teams.  Joey leaves with one B1G baseball championship ring and three B1G football championship rings.

Good luck in your future endeavors, Joey, a true Michigan man.

Elite prognostication by Seth last spring:

Flight Risk Assessment: High. Rapid-fire commitments and decommitment suggest that he and his support network are paying close attention to opportunities, and are highly reactive when a good one comes along. Also this isn't a guy getting on the patience train:

”I think about it every day. I think about how they’re going to develop me as soon as I get up there. How I’m just going to work by butt off in the offseason to make a name for myself. Also, to make sure I get on the field as fast as I can in the most efficient way as possible.”

Seth took some heat when he originally included that flight risk section in recruiting write ups, but personally I think it’s a valid addition. Not every recruit is the same and they all aren’t going to be as patient as some others. You see the writing on the wall with a lot of these kids.

Dylan Raiola comes to mind as a prime example. He’s been to 4 different high schools and his recent commitment to Nebraska is his 3rd college commitment. Safe to say he has his eyes on the exit doors if his freshman year doesn’t go the way he expects and a better opportunity comes along. No harm in a fan base acknowledging that.

It goes far beyond normal college football transfer portal stuff when you’re looking at guys who transfer high schools multiple times and flip their commitment multiple times compared to a guy who was locked in to one school the moment he committed.

It’s not just 5 stars. Every kid, regardless of their ranking, is different. There are signs during their recruitment that make it more likely than others that they won’t stick around. Someone like Calhoun was a bigger flight risk than someone who was locked in from the moment he committed. Again, it’s okay for us to acknowledge this and for someone more informed, like Seth, to inform us of those details.

It’s being reported that Domani is watching Bama’s practice today. That’s not to say that he isn’t going to watch Michigans tomorrow. He has these two as his final two and has them both in his back yard to watch them closely.

With Wallace and Sainristil moving on, our defensive backfield is very thin. We better hope Moore and Paige come back. We’ve struck out with Jackson and Stout so far. The fact that we’ve went after both of them tells you the staff knows we need some help there as well.

You only need 1 of Moore or Paige back. Neither of them or Sabb or Berry are playing CB. Sabb and Berry are ready to take over at safety. Paige or Moore could play in the slot or Sabb could potentially as well. But getting both Moore and Paige back doesn’t address the second CB spot at all. Johnson will hold down one side and most likely Hill will be the other CB if they don’t bring a transfer in. Only 2-3 teams will even be able to test Hill next year. Michigan will be fine.
