Burton Tower plays The Victors

Submitted by Wolverine Devotee on

A really awesome find. The Baird Carillon (the 4th heaviest in the world) is playing The Victors.

The Baird Carillon is atop Burton Tower.

I've played the Baird Carillon (as well as the North Campus bells). It's pretty awesome to see the bells up close, and to have the power to make noise across campus with just your hands and fingers. Students, if you have some piano or other musical training, take the class; it's so interesting and so much fun to play.

I always thought it would be cool if the Burton Tower had its own version of the Westminster Quarters. Instead of using so many bells like in the OP, it would just be the simple melody...

At quarter after: Hail to the victors valiant
At half past: Hail to the conquering heroes
At quarter of: Hail Hail to Michigan
At the hour: The champions of the West

This was arranged and performed by Rich G...before retirement he was one of those people that really made the Chem building function. Such a good soul and a reminder of why I love multi-talented Ann Arborites!
