Briefly discussed yesterday: Texans trade Hopkins for David Johnson and a 12 pack of toilet paper

Not that much of an NFL fan as we have no professional team, but when I saw this yesterday I immediately thought ''this is one of the worst deals I've ever seen". Watson and Hopkins could have become a fantastic combo, and they're trading him for an injury prone running back which they already have in Duke Johnson and a good second option in Carlos Hyde? Has Bill O'Brien come down with Corona? Are the Texans the Lions of the south?

Anytime you have the chance to not pay one of the top 3 receivers in football so that you can trade for an injury prone running back and extend your mediocre left tackle (whom you also traded serious draft capital for) you have to do it.

For the Lions to do something this bad, we'd first have to have someone on the roster worth much more than their proposed and then accepted trade. Who on the roster would we trade currently, that would muster up such a reaction from fans? No one.

Also forgot to include the Lions giving a guy 10 million a year for starting 3 games last year when they could have signed Jack Conkin instead for a bit more.

Trading a top-5 overall WR for a RB who's had one good year, FOUR YEARS AGO, and who has otherwise been injury-prone or been unable to muster up much of anything? Granted, part of that was due to the Cardinals having a bad OL, but that doesn't matter. Johnson has only delivered the goods one year of his pro career. Cardinals got away with highway robbery here.

If Will Fuller could stay healthy, they'd be alright in the passing game. But I think he's only stayed healthy for a full 16 games one year in his entire NFL tenure. In order for this to work out and for B.O.B. to not be run out of town by an angry mob, at least one of these things need to happen:

1) David Johnson needs to rekindle his 2016 form and have an MVP-caliber season. Or he at least needs to be one of the top 2-3 RBs in the league. Or:

2) There needs to be some stuff surrounding Hopkins that we don't currently know about, like off-field stuff B.O.B. didn't want any part of, some injury he thought was worth trading away, etc.

3) That second round pick they picked up better have an All-Rookie kind of year. Whoever he is. Not just a good year. An All-Rookie year.

And Minnesota got a 1st, 4th, 5th & 6th for Diggs. I feel like this (Johnson for Hopkins) is a fantasy football trade rape situation that would have been Vetoed.
