BBall Recruiting - New 2021 Offer EM 4* Jaden Akins
The second in-state offer goes out to Farmington lead guard Jaden Akins - he text me about 20 minutes ago with the news. I've been an advocate of Akins for 2 years. His upside and ceiling is extremely high at 6'3 and tons of athleticism and perimter shotmaking ability off the bounce.

Excellent.
I love this kid's game. He's going to be so damn good in college. He's improving at a rapid rate.

You ain't kidding! Is he a Michigan lean? That dude has some serious upside to him...

@Matt EM
What's your opinion on Ty Rodgers (2022 class).
I'm intrigued by his game for his body type. I think he might be a load in college. He looks strong, quick, and very solidly built.

I’m a bit lower on Rodgers in relation to the mainstream services.
He’s a great athlete, but at 6’5 he’s a poor shooter and isn’t a very good shot creator off the bounce.
He has the look of an undersized Michael Kidd-Gilchrist right now. A ton of potential as an elite defender if he grows even an inch or two.

Agree on him not being a good shooter. If I were him, I would get up 1,500 shots minimum every day. (It sounds like a lot to an average fan but it's actually not. Depending on how the workout is structured, it can be done in about 95 minutes or so.) I like his handle but he also needs to learn angles and look to be more of a creator as a triple threat. I think he has a chance to be very good but he needs a lot of work.

I take it he was at the game? Woo
February 8th, 2020 at 4:06 PM ^
Yes. He wanted that information kept private until today when I reported the visit via twitter.
2022 Javaughn Hannah was also in attendance along with 2021 Legend Geeter

Now THAT is a Legendary name!!!

Nice prospect, do want.

Do we have a shot at Emoni Bates Matt?
February 8th, 2020 at 4:17 PM ^
To be candid, I don’t think any school has a legit shot with Bates.

Matt,
Are you more optimistic on Josh Christopher being apart of the team next year?
February 8th, 2020 at 4:26 PM ^
If optimistic translates to Michigan being in his top two along with Arizona State, then yes.
Michigan appears to be gaining some steam.

@ WorldwideTJRob
Gentle reminder: you mean "a part" as in Michigan fans hope Josh Christopher chooses to be a part of Juwan Howards's first full recruiting class.
"Apart" is used to mean separated from.
February 8th, 2020 at 7:12 PM ^
Give it a break-nothing "gentle" about your obnoxious "reminder". Anyone with a lick of sense knows exactly what he meant-and even said...it was a simple "typo".
Additionally, your comment on a 16 year old Rogers needing to take 1500 shots a day indicates that you need to calm down and get back on your valium. How about we let these kids grow up and be kids too???

1. Thank you for outing yourself as a clown who shouldn't be taken seriously.
I didn't poke fun at him. I wasn't rude. I wasn't mean. I simply corrected him. If you find it obnoxious, then you're quite the thin-skinned loser.
2a. Ty's last name is Rodgers with a "d" and not Rogers.
2b. Lots of HS players get up 500+ shots per day. For instance, I did. 10-12 shots per minute and it can be done in about 45-50 minutes before or after practice. I played on a HS team that had multiple division 1 players. The best one would take 1500-2000 shots per day (half in the morning, half in the evening) on non-gamedays and he ended up being 1,500+ point scorer in the SEC.

I hope your'e not optimistic about Christopher being apart of the team, I would like him to play for UM,
February 8th, 2020 at 4:20 PM ^
If Juwan gets his guys, we could easily become the most dominant team in the B1G this decade. It’s so easy to see his scheme is there; he just needs his dudes. I’m so freaking excited to see the trajectory of this program.
February 8th, 2020 at 4:59 PM ^
A lot to like about this young man. Looks like a very dynamic player.
February 8th, 2020 at 5:57 PM ^
Yeah, I'm hoping the days of 6' guards ended with Beilein's dparture.
February 8th, 2020 at 7:01 PM ^
Dude is an absolute monster. His body and play style remind me a lot of Zeb Jackson, but I think Akins is more developed in terms of his scoring ability. Definitely a combo guard we should all want
February 8th, 2020 at 7:35 PM ^
I thought Zeb Jackson after watching the highlights too. I wouldn’t be opposed to a few athletic combo guards on the roster!
February 8th, 2020 at 8:06 PM ^
Reminds me of D Angelo Russell from the 1 minute film

2021 will be an interesting class. If Juwan brings in 2 one and dones then there will spots for 4 or 5 guys a year after taking 5 or 6 in 2020.
