BBall Recruiting - 2021 Class Direct Contact Tracker
Midnight commenced the direct contact period for 2021 prospects. It provides an early look at who the staff is giving a serious look to in the 2021 class.
As of right now I’ve confirmed the staff has reached out to in-state guards Jaden Akins and Julian Roper just beyond midnight. Both are 4 star prospects for EM.
EM? Or UM?
Yes.
EM = Endless Motor, Matt's recruiting site.
OK - Endless Motor. What, no shameless self-promotion with a link?
With the shit show that my 2020 rankings release turned out to be in terms of technical issues, I figured I’d save it for another day. Thank you for the support.
don't sweat it. everybody knows that technology is both the boon and the bane of modern day existence. i'm pretty sure 99.9% of mgobloggers enjoy your posts and updates, myself included.
Is Maizen the outlier?
ALL the Maizens!
Matt, are you expecting this staff to cast a much wider net than Beilein did?
Also, what will we be able to learn from the early contact period in terms of Michigan’s recruiting strategy or style of play, if anything?
I’d expect this staff to shoulder more of the burden in terms of initiating and maintaining contact with prospects.
Also expect a wider net to be cast because Juwan Howard has a much broader reach in relation to Coach Beilein despite his success.
Interesting take. The wider net makes a lot of sense, if for no other reason, the prospects don't know Howard yet and he has no track record at Michigan as of now. He'll certainly have to articulate what his style of play will be and hopefully it will resonate with many top players.
Two excellent prospects with full skill-sets...already as high school sophomores. You can win a lot of games with kids likes these two manning the guard positions. I particularly like Jaden's ability to go right-often lefties are weak in this regard. I see him being an elite college PG-he really can do it all.
Can’t stress enough how undervalued Akins is. That kid has an extremely high upside. Has all the tools. Needs to add muscle mass
BYU? We might as well forget about this one!
Is this the thread to coordinate efforts to tweet at recruits?
Any idea of which of the 2020 targets are realistic options? I see a bunch of "Well, I want to see how the season goes" quotes by people who then set their timeline to end before the season starts.
Read that Coach Howard has some extensive AAU ties. Is this expected to reap immediate results?
Is 2021 the best guard class in Michigan since Walton, Morris, Clark and Matthews?
Yes and 2022 is good as well
Add Kobe Bufkin
2021 class is all nice and all but I want to see what he lands at the last minute 2019 and more importantly the 2020 class. Hes late to the game for the 2020 class but that class is very important.
Matt,
I know it's been asked, but any news with the 2019 class? Wagner? Quentin Grimes or Thornton? I know you mentioned Donnie Tillman from Utah.
Right now we don't seem to be in on anyway, not landing Cumberland was a huge blow...he fit this roster beautifully. Woods went to S. Carolina. We need wing players --- BAD.

Theoretically we have not one, but TWO starting wing spots open...how are we not getting the remaining players beating down our door? There isn't a better situation at this point. Whether a true freshman or a grad transfer. Grimes and Wagner could both slide right into the starting lineup.
