The basketball team seriously needs to do something about these shorts.

Woof.

Can't believe any sane individual thought these would be a good idea.

I bet I'm pretty par for this blog.  I care about uniform stuff, but not all that much.  Some I like more than others.  I'm happy we are going with NIKE.  blah blah.

But these shorts piss me off.  There is NO WAY anyone from UM should give permission for these shorts to be forced on us.  These scream ugly and non-Michigan.  Adidas sucks.  Someone do something.  Help us all.

Eh. With these apparel deals the manufacturer has a ton of pull with everybody. There are some schools that can lobby to veto stuff, but the sheer volume of bad ideas that get through on even the biggest schools suggests that it's rare.

Thing is, I don't think Nike or Adidas actually have to let them veto; however, for big boys like Alabama and Texas, they don't want to rock the boat. Michigan is usually that way, too, and has vetoed some bad ideas before.

This year they're stuck with another lousy template. However, they either don't think it's that bad, or think it's bad and don't think it's worth the trouble to argue it, or (quite possibly) Adidas won't bother with a veto because they only have us for one more season anyway and they have no reason to bend over backwards for a client they're not going to keep.

Hopefully the team on the court will be less hard on the eyes than the unis. As for me, I pulled the trigger on the maize shorts from the last three years at a 50% discount from the M-Den (should come today, in fact) so I'm getting a good deal out of it.

point I believe uniforms could begin to effect my level of fandom.  I can't say for sure that I will be as big of a fan of this team if those are the shorts they wear.

You know it's been a rough couple of days on the site when a uniformz thread feels like actual news. I'm not sure how to feel about this development.

Dear Graduate Faculty,

I am pleased to announce that this morning, Wake Forest will announce a new MA in Sports Storytelling program. Chris Webber, five-time NBA all-star, sports analyst, businessman and film producer has been named a Professor of Practice for the two-year program housed within the University’s award-winning Documentary Film Program (DFP). Hopefully the play is so good this year I won't be noticing the shorts. If not, it will be a long year inside Crisler.
