Basketball Related - Shaq’s kid + 2020 class
Two topics I see came out today. Shaq’s kid gave a commitment to LSU. I know he was a name that popped up around here, nothing lately though. Big shoes to fill in his dads footsteps. Hope it works out. Between Brown/Christopher/Todd (officially signing) don’t think we had the space. Can’t force kids under scholarship to pack up their bags. Some might due to writing on wall, can’t imagine more than a couple though. Some will simply want that Michigan degree.
Looks like 3/27 in Chicago, the Jordan game for incoming recruits is being played. Usually irrelevant for Michigan w/ nobody playing. Heard Kam Chatman last UM player in this game... This year though, Dickinson/Todd/Christopher all on the same team. Pretty cool. Good chance for us to watch these guys in action, and Todd/Dickinson close Christopher to UM.

Im glad the Shareef crap is over with. Some Michigan fans really thought we were in the running solely because Christopher and Shareef are kind of friends. Stupid

Why is that stupid? He was a UCLA lean based solely on that relationship. I'm not saying I thought Shaq's son was a possibility, but calling people stupid because they were considering it an option isn't fair.

It wasn't a stretch. It probably had more to do with us not having enough space to pursue a transfer. Him and Christopher are tight, and on one of Christopher's Michigan IG posts, Shareef commented and called J Howard "my guy".

They're not "kind of" friends. They're very good friends. Shareef O'Neal was a huge reason Christopher was even considering UCLA. In fact, after Shareef entered the transfer portal, UCLA apparently stopped contacting Christopher. So to think that Shareef could follow Christopher to where ever he went isn't that crazy

Exactly. And the college basketball pessimism in me is saying -- "shit, LSU, bagmen central, Shareef is going ... now I'm worried about Christopher to LSU out of the nowhere."

Are we really arguing over whether some teenagers are friends?
Following recruiting always feels very stalkery.

Having stars playing in games is fun. Winning is also fun. I think coach howard will bring both. Whats the floor with 4 and 5 star players anyway? Worse case scenario is a coach doesnt develop players and the recruiting cools but we see down the road how big of an effect that really has.

If we land Christopher we'll have 5 top 100 players per 247.
When was the last time that happened? The Fab 5 I'm guessing?

I don't think they were all top 100.

4 top 10 players & Ray Jackson was #84.

I'd be curious to know if three guys from a team's recruiting class have ever had as many years in the NBA as Howard, Rose, and Webber. 50 plus years roughly.
