Barack Obama channels inner RR

Submitted by jokenjin on

I was just at the Obama's Election Night Rally (and Victory) and first off, it was amazing to see so many people there cheering for Obama and cheering everytime CNN projected a state for Obama. As soon as they declared that Obama was president-elect - well, you can imagine.

While listening to his speech, some eerie similarities popped up between his speech and RR's speeches that he gave before the season. Obama said that the first year may not be pretty, maybe not even the second year, but that change is coming and as long as you believe him in that he will turn this country around.

Does that sound like any college football team that we know of? I was standing next to another Michigan fan at the rally and I turned to him and said "doesn't this sound like RR?" and he immiediately nodded his head and said "that's EXACTLY what I was thinking."

Who has the harder job? Haha.

Here is the actual line from the speech -

The road ahead will be long. Our climb will be steep. We may not get there in one year or even in one term. But, America, I have never been more hopeful than I am tonight that we will get there.

I promise you, we as a people will get there.

There will be setbacks and false starts. There are many who won't agree with every decision or policy I make as president. And we know the government can't solve every problem.

But I will always be honest with you about the challenges we face. I will listen to you, especially when we disagree. And, above all, I will ask you to join in the work of remaking this nation, the only way it's been done in America for 221 years -- block by block, brick by brick, calloused hand by calloused hand.

What began 21 months ago in the depths of winter cannot end on this autumn night.

This victory alone is not the change we seek. It is only the chance for us to make that change. And that cannot happen if we go back to the way things were.

that when Obama bought a pack of cigs the other day he asked for a quarter back.  And you know RR needs a better nickel package.  Or an effective dime.  It's all change we can believe in.
