Backyard Brawl Open Thread

Didn't see a thread for those of us watching some Friday night football. WVU fans already booing halfway through the 1st quarter. That was fast.

West Virginia's offense is off to a comically bad start. I went to highschool in central PA so I want Pitt to win. Also, how can you not cheer for the Wannstache?

A lot of what WVU does is a credit to RichRod, in spite of all that has happened, good or bad. I've been watching this game for a while and just stumbled on this thread. Meawhile, Devine just scored. WVU looks up for this game, especially their defense, which I figured would have been slammed by Pitt. Not so. This D was recruited mostly by RichRod and his staff. Speaking of recruitment - there's this talk these days that the only reason RichRod had any success at WVU was because of White and Slaton. Well, did he not recruit them? Was this some kind of accident on his part? I would say that it was deliberate. I don't think so. Just as I don't think that Rodriguez is so focused on offense that he simply does not pay attention to the defensive side of the ball. What WVU does - in spite of all the flack and vitriol - is still in part a credit to RichRod. It is always interesting to watch WVU play, especially with that in mind.

This is WVU's biggest game of the year, on National TV, and a quarter of the stadium is empty. And I don't mean just the end-zone seats. WVU has not been the same since Pitt 2007. Not even Pitt fans cared enough to show up and fill 'em up.

A lot of Pitt fans wouldn't bother to drive down to Morgantown, since most of them can't be bothered to fill up Heinz field. It's a pretty bandwagony fanbase. Add in the day after Thanksgiving + a not so good WVU team + Bill Stewart = not that many folks making it down to Hillbilly U.

Is WVUs kicker injured. I have no idea what Stewart is doing... Interesting detail I've noticed when I've been watching: the centers left hand is on the ground for the runs, and up for the passes. This is taken out of a small sample of about 10 plays Ive been paying attention to it, but I think it's been pretty accurate.

i see him cautiously approaching a computer like Frankenstein to a torch "ARGHHHHH E-MAIL BAAAAAAAAAAD" however i can also see him hitting Reply All constantly on private emails and/or emailing everyone memes repeatedly From: Bill Stewart ([email protected]) To: Patti ([email protected]) CC: WVU Athletics, WVU Student Body, NCAA OMG Let's get some of that Bill Gates money! There's a hidden tracker in this email that lets all a us get summathat crazy computer money so I sent it to everyone laughing out loud. To be safe I also sent a printed out copy through the post office. Were gonna be rich rolling on floor laughing. I can't figure out how to make that smiley face thing so here's the letter O Yours in Christ, William

Anybody hear Kirk Herbstreit take a shot at rodriguez last week when Shaw bumped the Ohio state player saying, "there's no room for that in Ohio state Michigan, at the back yard brawl yes, but here no" that really bothered me. It might not have been a shot but I thought of it as one. Crazy.

Nothing to add on the game - I'm trying to study, it's on in the background on ESPN 360 (go Pitt!) - but I wanted to mention that Pitt's white pants w/ the two-colored stripe look awesome.

Bill Stewart: "It's a great day to be from West Virginia" All good and fun, but I wonder if Bill realizes that it blows to be from West Virginia for the other 364 days of the year.

God damnit I can just hear all the RR haters saying how they finally have a coach who can beat Pittsburgh. What a shitty day

...hate. It's what they do. The WVU couch-burners will find "reasons" to trash RR until they die. It's not an accident that WV was one of the states where the Hatfields and McCoys held the mother of all grudges.
