B1G Championship Game: Herb Brooks when the USA was down 2-1 to Finland

His speech during the second intermission of the Finland game (with the USA down 2-1) was simple, direct, and on target:

“If you lose this game you will take it with you to your f***ing graves." As he started to leave the locker room, he stopped, turned around and added, "Your f***ing graves.”

We know the results.

Since 2001, we're 6-7 against Iowa. The last time we beat them away from Michigan Stadium was in 2005.

Harbaugh is 1-1 against Ferentz, but that 2016 loss probably cost us a division championship and a spot in the playoffs, since Speight got hurt and wasn't 100% healthy the rest that season.

We owe them one.

I didn't mean to imply it was the same, but you're right anyhow—Kinnick is an unpleasant place to play in part because the stands are so close to the benches.

It's hard to imagine Michigan won't be extremely focused considering what's at stake, but sustaining and guiding emotional intensity week after week is not an easy task for coaches to achieve.

Iowa is a dogfight every time. Their B1G title game vs Mortgage State in 2015 came down to the last play. Ferentz pulls no punches in big games.

Hope the boys got their well earned celebration last night, and onward to Indianapolis.

This would be a great time for "our best week of practice all year."

I have to think guys are TRYING to refocus, but human nature is human nature.

Also, with the flu going around (and uh, a pandemic)...I'm a little nervous.

This feels like the Wisconsin game before the bye week...doesn't matter how you do it, doesn't need to be pretty, just win.

Fun fact: The Finland-USA game wasn't a gold medal game as is commonly believed. Back then, hockey in the Olympics used a group play system instead of a single-elimination tournament. As such, had the USA lost the game, not only would they have not won gold, but the USSR would have!

Yeah, as euphoric as this current feeling is, a loss to Iowa would be absolutely brutal.  We ended the OSU losing streak and finally made it to Indianapolis, which is fantastic.  But we've got to put that "No Big Ten titles since 2004" thing to bed.  Not to mention claim a CFP bid for the first time.  This team and coaching staff can add so much to its legacy with one more win.
