B10 Bowls possibly 1-6 this season
If OSU loses to Texas, then the B10 will go 1-6 in this season's bowl games. Personally, I don't want to hear on the radio how weak the B10 is and some saying we don't deserve to go to some of the bowl games. Here's to 2009 being a better and stronger conference.

... is Michigan's unusually bad season. If RichRod can turn things around next season, that alone will do a lot to strengthen the conference.

On the radio how the Big Ten is 1 out of the last 12 Rose Bowls. Oklahomo won 1. Texas won 2.
Wiscy is the last Big Ten team to win out there.
WTF?

A lot of this is due to a ridiculously good USC dynasty that the big 10 has to play year after year. If we got to play some other Pac 10 squads we'd be winning some, but I don't think anyone disagrees with USC > Big 10, especially when its a home game for them.

I think it's much less the "home field" and much more that Pete Carroll is a great defensive coach and recruiter.

One out of 12 can't be right. The Big Ten won the Rose every year from 1997-2000.

Since they took Ohio St. when they probably really didn't deserve to be in a BCS game in any way, the Big 10 had to move every team up one slot.
If Ohio St. isn't selected for the Fiesta....
Ohio St. plays Georgia in the Cap One Bowl and probably wins that game.
Michigan St. plays South Carolina in the Outback Bowl and probably wins that game.
Iowa plays Missouri in the Alamo Bowl and has a better chance than NW had and NW took them to OT.
Northwestern plays Florida St. in the Champs Sports Bowl and probably loses.
Wisconsin plays Kansas in the Insight Bowl and probably loses.
Minnesota plays Central in the Motor City Bowl and gets waxed because Minnesota is the worst bowl team possibly ever.
Big Ten goes 3-4, maybe 4-3 and that sounds about what it should be. So the Big Ten should send a big Thank You card to the Fiesta Bowl for making them look like the most overrated conference in football.

But no one in the SEC makes excuses when they perennially send two teams to the BCS. With the addition of the BCS championship game, you will most likely see two teams from the Big Ten, SEC and Big XII every year, unless one year the ACC produces a second decent team. Hell, they reached down far enough to take Illinois last season.

There's no doubt this year that the Big Ten is not a good enough conference to be sending two teams to the BCS. The SEC and Big 12 are a billion times better than the Big 10 this year. I mean, as I see it, there are 3 teams in the Big 12 that are better than the best Big 10 team. Plus, there was a very deserving Boise St. team that should have gotten a BCS bid over Ohio St.
Since everyone is hyping up the Pac 10 and their 5-0 record in bowls this year, put a 2nd Pac 10 team in the BCS and see what the Pac 10's bowl record is.
Let's face it, the Big Ten is battling the Pac 10 for 3rd best conference every year and anyone that argues that is smoking something.

I'd say there are at least 4 teams better than PSU in the Big12. I'm feeling that Mizzou vs PSU is a better comparison. Plus, if you put those two teams head-to-head, I'd be inclined to take Mizzou as well.
I can pretty much cosign everything else you said sans-Boise though.

They do make excuses....every conversation I've had with the hardcore SEC partisans about them vs the Big 10, I point out the Big 10 more than holds their own in those two afternoon Jan 1 Bowls. Their response is usually well we dont send our best teams there on account of the BCS.
Nevermind the Big 10 is in the same boat there....but its most of their reflexive argument once given the facts about SEC vs Big 10 bowl history.
It makes no sense, but its them making excuses.
I do a lot of business with folks in SEC country and this is an argument they use when discussing Big 10 vs SEC.

The Big 10 also plays almost every game against the Big 12 and the SEC, who are all much better than the Big 10 this year. I think if they played more games against ACC, Big East or non-USC Pac-10 teams the record would be a lot better.

If there's one thing I've learned this year, it's always bet on the underdog ACC team and against the favorite ACC team. I would want no such Big10-ACC challenge in football this season. I really think people are selling the ACC short this year. While they have no great teams, they are solid from top to bottom. I really think they were a much better conference this year.

The Big 10 is at BEST the fourth best conference this year. If you lined up the B10 top five against the SEC, B12, and PAC10 we would lose the vast majority of those games.
Having Michigan out of the picture has really weakened the conference in the bowl picture. As was stated above, putting OSU in a non-deserved BCS game and Michigan out of the picture, the other B10 schools were at least one game over their skis in the bowl game.
Unfortunately, neither Penn State, nor OSU could beat Florida, Oklahoma, Texas or USC.
Until the B10 gets some serious defensive speed at defensive end, LB and secondary, we will not be able to beat USC or teams like Florida, Oklahoma and Texas.

the true Snake Oil salesman. He has 4 1/2* guys backing up 5* guys and his backups are as good as the B10's best players.
