I believe all sports will move to the BigTen effective 2011.
Nebraska baseball is really good. My guess is that their baseball team will take a hit, recruiting-wise, by going to the Big Ten.
I had the privilege of playing against them a few years ago at a regional. The experience was unbelievable. Playing in front of 10,000 fans.
Their stadium, Haymarket Park, is rediculously nice, although it is shared with a local indepedent league team.

Recruiting should still be okay. They actually get quite a bit or decent talent from their home state as the CWS has a definite strong pull toward young kids getting into baseball. I imagine it will be kind of like Louisville when they went to the Big East instead of CUSA. They still recruit really well for being a Northern power. They were a top 20 program almost every year.

I agree that they do have a lot of in state talent, but one of their strongest recruiting points was being able to sell going down to Texas, TTU, Oklahoma, etc in mid-March.
Edit: I am actually a bit surprised to see that Nebraska only had 9 in-state players on their roster last year.

Bingo, them leaving the Big 12 will hurt recruiting baseball wise.
In addition, Formerly, you should look into the new bats NCAA mandated. It's going to be a completely different (and much safer/competitive) game with them.
p.s. Nebraska baseball is paying us a visit in 2012 to end the year, should be a real good series.

I went to high school at one of the bigger baseball schools (though football obviously is still king and they had one of the best programs for that too) here in Omaha, which was one of the things I was surprised to see when we moved here from MI was how big baseball was. I work with high school kids so if I meet any that are good at baseball I'll try to steer them towards UM.

2011-2012 academic year.
So in a way, yes, 2012.

They won't be playing us this upcoming season. They will enter next academic year.

Damn I am impressed. First that anybody would even THINK about Nebraska and baseball this time of year and cared enough to post and second that somebody here actually knew the answer.

Contrary to popular belief (all the post on the MLB I've had to change), the baseball tag when creating posts is there for Michigan Baseball or college baseball.
And if you dig back far enough, you'll notice my avatar ties into a particular interest of mine.
