If you were a recruit, would you rather go to a program that's currently in the top 5, or a team that hasn't had a competent offense in 5 years? Expecting Tucker to beat out teams like Bama, OSU, and ND in year 1 is a bit ridiculous. Even if he somehow got MSU back to the Big Ten Championship, he still wouldn't beat those programs for recruits regularly. That's just reality at MSU.

Also, look at ND's offensive line, and then look at MSU's, and tell me which one you'd rather run behind.

They were 2-5 this year. They lost to Rutgers. Bobby Williams also beat Michigan in his first season. I said nothing about Michigan being on top of them. But if the only thing he has is his recruiting and he can't recruit talent anywhere near his competition, then how can anyone expect that he will do much to compete in the Big Ten?

ND is quite a bit higher on the totem pole than MSU both historically and currently IMO so it's not shocking that a recruit would flip there. ND obviously isn't Bama/OSU/Clemson but they are in the next tier right behind them, plus they have solid academics.

I don't mean to sound like a ND apologist but I think ND > MSU is pretty clear pecking order.

Rico Beard is now hinting on 97.1 The Ticket that either Payton Thorne or Rocky Lombardi is leaving MSU as well.

Mel just signed on Grad Transfer QB Anthony Russo from Temple, seems that is isn't being received too well by the QB room.

Thorne actually looked pretty impressive in his limited time, finally winning the starting job considering the mess around him. I think he is far and away better than any other QB they got, even with Russo in the fold.

Rocky leaving doesn't hurt them much.

He's been in the program long enough, and the eyeball test is a mid level overall talent. Good kid who was very loyal, just not a game changer.

Thorne looks more balanced skill wise, will give the transfer competition.

Mel is definately clearing the roster, and looks to 2-3 cycles away from being relevant in the BIG.

It won't sting at all for them, they just picked up the #5 back from a couple years ago out of auburn.  He was in the portal
