Appreciate Days Like Today
The Wolverines grabbed two commitments today, one from OG Jack Miller, the other from QB Kevin Sousa. By most accounts, neither of these players will see the field before 2013.
With all the bad news that's gone down, really, for the past two years, we've got to appreciate good days like today. Two commitments, with the possibility that those votes of confidence could precipitate more (Zettel, Hart, etc), for a program with the most high-profile hot-seat coach in the country, is indeed great.
Try to picture the team when these kids take over. Rodriguez's job is (likely) safe, Michigan is (possibly) coming off the second- or third-straight run at a Big Ten championship, and Gardner and Sousa are doing battle all through spring and fall camp for the starting job.
We're a unique fanbase, with a prickly set of defense mechanisms currently firing. Lately, our optimism has continually been teased but rarely rewarded. My little brother, who will be a senior at Michigan, thinks we'll keep losing. That's all he's ever known as a student.
Make sure you appreciate good days. It's from commitments like today's that future championships are born.
It has a club/ trance theme to it, but it brings a smile to your face.
...we have our own Freakbass. All I can say is thank God there's no video component to this.
Unfortunately, I could see myself enjoying this song at about 1:52am at Ricks (just before Kenny Rogers - The Gambler) after a gameday where Tailgating began at approximately 7am.
Short, semi-interesting (and true) story: my Dad wrote The Gambler. I'd probably never mention it if I wasn't a little inebriated.
If not, then either you or Wikipedia are/is a bold-faced liar.
Wikipedia is not mistaken. I am now sober (and hungover) and have some regrets about tipping my identity to the internets. The veil of anonymity is like trust and virginity. You can only lose it once.
...did not heed your dad's fine advice:
You got to know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em
Know when to walk away and know when to run
would leave those guys lying on the ground with chalk around their bodies.
took place at the University of Michigan, Zach, Screech and Slater would have performed this before the big homecoming game. Zach as lead vocals with his posturing indicating that he is in fact "hard core", Slater doing some bastardization of break dancin' and Screech with the glow bracelets.
You're right, couldn't help but enjoy it.
from what sometimes seems like ever-present Michigan self-loathing. Huzzah to you.
I just hope that Sousa redshirts, continues to progress, and replaces a graduated DG in 2014 with no discernable drop-off in talent. I definitely like the part of the post about competing for BT Championships, though.
"Rich Rod is the next Schembechler" line I thought it was pretty good! I would love to hear some more background vocals like maybe some repetitions of Bo saying "the team" but remixed. Not bad though!
as horrible as the We are Nd song.
Good post... positive, uplifiting, worthwhile, and a healthy dose of perspective. Keep up the good work, Touchdown Chad Henne.
'scuse me while i pour bleach into my ears....
i hate my life
that's pretty awesome, at my buddy's wedding last month, his requested that the second to last song at the wedding be "The Gambler"...with The Victors being the final song of course (both he and his wife were UofM grads and avid Rick's go'ers)
