Any HTTV updates?

Submitted by AZBlue on June 9th, 2020 at 3:12 PM

I know there was some mention of options during the early days of the Covid-ening but I haven’t seen anything recently.

I sense a general BPONE is affecting our MGoStaff but also think that the lack of live sports content would actually drive additional business to HTTV - even if the (increasingly unlikely) cancellation of the 2020-21 season were to happen.

So what’s the verdict Brian, Seth, Ace?

And if that answer is “not in 2020” who out there can recommend the best alternative(s)?

BryMac was acknowledged as working on the HTTV Rutgers preview, which I take as a STRONG signal that the book is being worked on, as I can't imagine why you would get to Rutgers if not.

Thanks, I not see that - and yes I agree there is no other reason someone would dig into Rutgers.

Maybe my internal clock is off a bit but I seem to remember HTTV coming around the start of fall camp = about 7 weeks from now, which makes it seem overdue for a Kickstarter announcement...

Ace: "and now for something completely different: we're having @Bry_Mac write the HTTV rutgers preview again"

Bry_Mac: "Under Chris Ash, Rutgers had as many conference games where they lost by 35+ points as he did games where they either won or kept the score within 7 points."

There's a general malaise reminiscent of the Outback Bowl coming from certain writers. I hope the season preview content is already being drafted because if they're rooting for covid to wipe out football there's going to be some busy days in August.

They make money from Michigan football. They want there to be a season. They have stated, repeatedly, that they have concerns about whether the season will happen, particularly given risks to older staff and coaches.

I don't know where the talking point that sportswriters are rooting for there to be no sports came from. Misunderstands their relationship to it.

I wish they would do a fundraiser that would be used to invest in the infrastructure and content of the site rather than dedicating the time and resources to HTTV. I would much rather pay for a better site.
