MSU invites applications for an internship opportunity with the Strength and Conditioning Department from August 3, 2009 through the first week of May 2010. MSU is strongly committed to increasing diversity within the workplace and within the intercollegiate athletics profession through the development of essential skills acquired through this internship. The successful candidate will report to the Coordinator of Strength and Conditioning for Olympic Sports and the Head Strength and Conditioning Coach. Duties include: assisting with the development and implementation of strength training programs for 17 teams; assisting with the creation and direction of sport-specific speed, quickness and agility workouts; assisting sport coaches with recruiting; assisting with the hiring and supervising of student interns; weight room supervision; weight room upkeep; equipment maintenance, and other duties as assigned. Successful applicants should have prior weight training experience and a desire to continue in the field of strength and conditioning for enhanced sport performance. Bachelor’s degree required -- Master’s degree preferred. A nine-month contract with compensation of $455 per week; no fringe benefits will be provided for this position.
