Alcohol comin'

110,000 people x $10/beer
That's a LOT of NIL money...
October 19th, 2023 at 5:08 PM ^
Ummm...Are we selling $10 Sharp's to the 21 and under crowd? I'm sure my kids want to support their future NIL program.
October 19th, 2023 at 5:09 PM ^
$10?
You're livin in a different millennium.
October 19th, 2023 at 5:13 PM ^
Hot chocolate is $10. I would be surprised if beer was any lower than $15 or even $20.
October 19th, 2023 at 5:26 PM ^
Exactly, my buddy got a hot chocolate during the Indiana game last Saturday .
They put the powder in the cup and told him the hot water was over there....
I know I'm old but I never buy anything at the stadium. I've probably spent less than $200 on concessions there since 1977.
October 19th, 2023 at 7:31 PM ^
Rookie mistake. You gotta smuggle a collapsible cup and ya own damn packet of swissmiss.
October 20th, 2023 at 1:40 AM ^
That’s why you sell booze, after a few rounds everything tastes good, seems like a great idea, and is the best you’ve ever had!
Genius, actually. I’m surprised they haven’t hit season ticket holders with a food and beverage minimum.

MSU said it sold ~16,500 cans at the Washington game with 70,000 attendance, but then again, their stadium was half empty by halftime.
October 19th, 2023 at 7:55 PM ^
you mean beer flavored water.

Harder to steal signs when I'm buzzed, but I accept the challenge.
October 19th, 2023 at 5:20 PM ^
I understand those are the two money makers and it's an arms race, but how about updating Cliff Keen Arena.
October 19th, 2023 at 7:48 PM ^
How about investing $24 million is some recruits to get bball back on track instead of hoping a fancy locker with a built in vibrator will do the trick..
October 20th, 2023 at 1:53 PM ^
Recruiting hasn’t been much of an issue imo. Players leaving early for the NBA (with good reason) and getting screwed by admissions in the transfer portal hasn’t helped. Our team would look much different with Terrance Shannon and Caleb Love on the roster this year.
October 20th, 2023 at 1:46 AM ^
🤷♂️ 🤷♂️ 🤷♂️
seems like you’re trying to find ways to spend money with $24M on fucking locker rooms?!
you put me in charge of that project and give me 20% of the “savings” for every dollar below $24M and I guarantee it would be just fine and I’d be rich
October 19th, 2023 at 5:16 PM ^
Don't like it but not a surprise.
October 19th, 2023 at 6:20 PM ^
Anyone who wants to be drunk at a M sporting event is already able to do that with ease. I don't think long lines for $10 Oberons is moving the needle.
October 19th, 2023 at 6:59 PM ^
But what it is doing is allowing them to stay drunk. With that many people, it means more chances for violent behavior as well as drunk driving after the game.
October 19th, 2023 at 7:04 PM ^
Yeah, I mean x number of people and x amount of alcohol will mean x deaths, dismemberments, accidents, women punched, children spanked, etc.; add for losses, subtract for wins. To me that's something that one can't get around.

Everybody kills people, murders people. Steals from me. Steals from you.

October 19th, 2023 at 7:09 PM ^
The argument is that people now slam their drinks pregame because they can't drink during the games and might be more moderate both before and during if that isn't an issue. Don't know if that's true, but I've heard it argued by folks without a financial interest in selling beer at the games.
I would say that unless you really don't care about football you're not getting more than 1 or 2 beers during the game given how long and slow the lines often are.
October 20th, 2023 at 1:48 AM ^
Which happens at every sporting event in every country in the world every day (some Muslim countries excepted) so, yeah.
October 20th, 2023 at 1:47 AM ^
$10 Oberon? At a sporting event? Try $20 before tax and tip.

Delivery is extra unless you promise not to call 911 after you puke our products into that souvenir polyurethane spittoon you bought at that gas station outside Mt. Rushmore last summer! Michigan football and Dominos! Together we are the class of indigestion!
Fuck me I gotta hurl..."

Like Murderwolf, alcohol has always been here.
October 19th, 2023 at 6:12 PM ^
I’m not paying $20 for a beer.
I will continue to smuggle half pints into the stadium until further notice.
October 19th, 2023 at 6:51 PM ^
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
October 19th, 2023 at 8:47 PM ^
I dislike this, and makes me less likely to go to games in the future… sitting next to drunks is a subpar experience.
October 20th, 2023 at 1:52 AM ^
If you can’t beat them, join them…
