3 QB Transfers and Young Heisman Finalists

Submitted by CincyBlue on December 9th, 2019 at 7:13 PM

Joe Burrow

Justin Fields

Jalen Hurts

Chase Young

Will all be in NYC for the Heisman award show on Saturday.  3 current or former Buckeyes.

Eh, elite OL and skill position play plus smart playcalling really elevates a QB, too (see literally all OSU QBs this century who were Heisman candidates and totally worthless in the NFL).

Just look at what better coordination did for Joe Burrow this year. He was mostly terrible last year and poof, Heisman winner.

For the second half of this year, Michigan finally had most of what it takes to have a productive (and winning) QB.  Maybe they will for a full year next year.

Yeah, at this point the Heisman is basically which mobile-ish QB on a talented team is going to break some random school records.  I think it's a great testimonial to the power of an offense Michigan has now adopted, but I'm sorta over thinking that a guy who throws for 40 TDs is actually a particularly great QB.

This is a terrible take. Can you imagine if OSU had just said "Gee lets not take Fields lets just develop what we have"? OSU would have like 3 loses if they had gone with Chugadov all year.

ALL 3 of the QBs on the Heisman finalist list are transfers. All of their teams are in the Playoffs.

If we can get an elite QB off transfers, its take, period.

Having him there just tells young kids that it’s ok to cheat.  Grownups with a financial interest in your success with smooth things over.

But, we likely crossed that threshold awhile back when recruits took a selfie with piles of cash and tweeted it out with a logo of their new school.  “Blessed”...

Looking forward to seeing the guy the Buckeyes cast off win the trophy.  Also hoping to see him lead his team to the championship just because it would drive the Buckeye people nuts.

If we lose to Clemson you better believe we'll be all in on Joe. Guy did everything right for us and he's still loved by his former teammates.

Get a clue fam. He wasn't a cast off. He just lost the QB battle to a guy that torched the record books, hung 62 on UM, and was a first round draft pick. OSU even helped him transfer to a program that needed him.

Get a life "fam".

The last thing I would be doing if my team were ranked #1 (ed: #2) would be trolling a rival's message board.

Shows what pathetic lives many of your fellow Online State fans live who come on here and spread their verbal diarrhea.

How is that trolling? Anything I said was neither inflammatory nor incorrect. I simply corrected a misnomer about a former player.

If I were gonna troll, I'd probably start with that Upper Deck-style selfie avatar from your Myspace rookie year. Or the fact you've deemed yourself the hallway monitor for this blog.

Otherwise, nothing wrong with taking an interest in what  your rival's fans say and think on their boards.

I'd call over the blog hallway monitor for inflammatory remarks per Mgo FAQs. Then again, you like maize and blue, so he probably won't ask to see a bathroom pass.

Screw it, @devotee can I get a ruling? Or do you just ask for bans on people who don't like the same things you like?

Dude, this is a Michigan blog. It’s not a government entity committed to impartiality. Get a grip. Or should I say “chill.”

Joe Burrow would be disappointed in your thin skinned behavior. It’s probably why he left OSU. Bunch of softies who can’t even handle winning without their insecurities taking over.

lol...... I can't imagine actually creating an account on a OSU board, even we were dominating the rivalry, because that would be low wattage of me.  Would think it's so petty to go to RCMB and do so.   So for you to be here, is telling.

Sorry, but everybody parted on good terms. He was in the competition with Haskins when he took an injury and saw the writing on the wall based on Dwayne's performance. We love his toughness and if it's not us, then I hope it's the Bayou Bengals. (Not just for Joe, but to hear Ed Orgeron's voice in countless interviews.)

I’m cracking up at how osu fans flip flop once again.  When Tater Tot transferred your clowns were going nuts about your quarterback situation and calling Burrows weak for leaving when he would have been the starter this year.

Truth be told if Fields hadn’t gotten immediate eligibility for a bogus reason then your team would be sitting at 8-4 and trashing Burrows to no end.

You’re only happy for the guy because your guy ended up being great and leading your team to the playoffs.

Surely you can follow what is being said. Perhaps you think it's untrue, but I have faith that you can understand the position he is taking.

2018: OSU has Haskins and Tate. OSU fans are not worried about the absence of Burrow.

2019 before eligibility is granted to Fields and Tate leaves: There are no QBs on the roster. Commence freak out and ANGAR at Burrow!

2019: OSU is #2 in the country, OSU fans think it is supercool that Burrow is #1.

Alternate universe 2019: Fields sucks and OSU goes 6-6 with a loss to Michigan. ANGAR at Burrow!

Not once did anyone I know freak out on Joe leaving during the Tate/Fields transition. It was largely a sunk cost at that point.

The guy got his degree, helped his team prep, gunned it out for the starting job, got injured, lost the race, and decided to transfer. No one was angry at him. Sure there are fans who say "he left screw him" but they're in the minority. No love lost but no anger as well.

You weren’t excited for Joe last year.  Where do you come up with that?  You didn’t care that he left, sure, cause you guys claimed he’d never beat our Tater Tot lmao.

You act like osu boards don’t exist and the things you guys were saying before Fields got immediate eligibility weren’t actually said.  You guys were freaking the eff out when Tater Tot left.  Lemme guess, you all were excited for him too?

If Fields doesn’t get immediate eligibility you guys would be trashing Burrow right now for leaving.  If you’re only happy for someone who left you because their replacement was about as good then were you really happy for them?

Lay off the revisionist history my man.  I know it’s kinda what you guys do.  Remember when you guys called Urban a lying cheating scum bag?  Of course not cause that never happened!!!  Right?  ???

Chase Young being in it is like Peppers being in it back in 16

Nice gesture, will finish last. Two most important games of the year he had a total of six tackles and 0 sacks. Very impressive.

Fields will probably win it next year but it'll be Burrow this year. Hope more players take the hint from Joe and realize you can accomplish bigger and better things if you just leave the worst state in America
