2nd Round Games
I know the second round venues have been announced, but does anyone know which one Michigan will play at if they advance?
I have the option to attend the second round games at Bankers Life so I am curious if Michigan could be playing there.
My apologies if this has already been discussed.
Edit: It seems ESPN doesn't have the correct info. Please see Alton and redwings8331's posts below.
No, I don't think that's right. I think Redwings below is correct.
Second Round:
- Sunday, March 21 and Monday, March 22
- Bankers Life Fieldhouse, Indianapolis, Indiana
- Hinkle Fieldhouse, Indianapolis, Indiana
- Indiana Farmers Coliseum, Indianapolis, Indiana
- Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis, Indiana (two courts)
Regional Semifinals and Finals (Sweet Sixteen and Elite Eight):
- Saturday, March 27 and Sunday, March 28
- Bankers Life Fieldhouse, Indianapolis, Indiana
- Hinkle Fieldhouse, Indianapolis, Indiana
- Monday, March 29 and Tuesday, March 30
- Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis, Indiana
National Semifinals and Championship (Final Four and Championship):
- Saturday, April 3 and Monday, April 5
- Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis, Indiana
Interesting.
Perhaps ESPN has it wrong.
In fact, it would make sense for ESPN to use Lucas Oil as a placeholder for all the Round of 32 matchups since those haven't been announced.
I'll amend my post above.
Given the time slots arranged for the games, it would be impossible to play all of the games at one venue--even a venue with 2 courts.
- #1 | Noon | CBS
- #2 | 2:30 | CBS
- #3 | 5:00 | TBS
- #4 | 6:00 | TNT
- #5 | 7:00 | CBS

- #7 | 8:30 | TNT
- #8 | 9:30 | CBS
Mackey and Assembly Hall are only two venues being used for just the first four and first round. Second round sites & times won't be announced until late Friday night (for Sunday games) and late Saturday night (for Monday games).
Second round:
- Bankers Life Fieldhouse
- Hinkle Fieldhouse
- Indiana Farmers Coliseum
- Lucas Oil Stadium (two courts)
Sweet 16:
- Bankers Life Fieldhouse
- Hinkle Fieldhouse
Elite 8 & Final 4:
- Lucas Oil Stadium
Hinkle Fieldhouse? Indiana Farmers Coliseum? Sounds like an episode of “Green Acres” where Mr. Haney loses his prize sow on his way to the State Pig Showing Competition.
Hinkle Fieldhouse is where Jimmy Chitwood hit the game winner behind the picket fence. That place has some deep history.
And it's awesome. It's the basketball arena at Butler University.
I have tickets to all 3 games that will be played at Bankers on Monday. So I have a 3/8 chance one of those games will be Michigan, as long as we win Saturday.
They have not announced which games will be played there yet. But I do believe I read that the teams will not play at the same location for both 1st and 2nd round games.
Ive read that they won’t be giving any team in the second round another game in the same venue they’ve already played in (to not give an advantage of familiarity).
texas southern/msm = assembly hall
mich/tbd = mackey
lsu/bonny = assembly hall
this tells me that all we know is our second game won’t be at assembly or mackey if we are involved in it
edit: i just saw above that mackey and assembly apparently won’t be used anyway for the second round, so i think it’s anyone’s guess lol
