247 sports updated 2021 football ranking, movement for our recruits
This is 247 sports movement, not the composite.
35. JJ McCarthy -2 spots
86. Giovanni El-Hadi +1 spot
97. Xavier Worthy -3 spots
99. Junior Colson +36 spots
231. Branden Jennings -71 spots
237. Tavierre Dunlap -13 spots
Raheem Anderson, 3* to 4*, but outside the top 249 still
Rod Moore, 3* to 4*, but outside the top 249 still
** Donovan Edwards dropped 5 spots to 29.
** Ceyair Wright dropped 6 spots to 76.
** CB Kalen King of Cass Tech (committed to PSU) jumped up 176 spots to 206 !!!!
** Rayshaun Benny who just committed to MSU over us dropped 12 spots to 213.
Giovanni El-Hadi goes to #3 in the state and Garrett Delinger drops to #5 (they swap places basically)
PSU has the #6, 8, 9 and 14 players in the state of Michigan. If UM strikes out on Edwards, PSU will have out-recruited us in our own state. Michigan State sucks regardless if they pick up anyone else or not.

I believe PSU hired someone away from Cass Tech. Since a staff shakeup here is happening regardless of who the HC is, we need to pry that guy away from PSU.
November 18th, 2020 at 4:36 PM ^
Is there a high school in America that has more disappointing players than Cass? Such a Frames move.
November 18th, 2020 at 4:47 PM ^
I hate to object to mocking Frames but Jourdan Lewis, Lano Hill, and Mike Onwenu (tracking to be All Pro for PFF) presumably would like a word.
I know a bunch of people file DPJ under disappointment but he was still a darn good player at Michigan.

Yeah Brutus, that's a bad take from you. I know your mad, but you're better than that. Not to mention the QB who got in trouble (Name escapes me) won the Heisman of D2 ball.
November 18th, 2020 at 6:11 PM ^
If you're surprised I had a bad take, you must be new here.

You’re thinking of Tim Banks. He’s not from cass tech but has Detroit roots as a player at MLK high and then to CMU in college. Has coached at Maryland, Illinois, Cincy, and now at PSU as their safeties and Co-DC coach. He’s definitely a great recruiter in the area but idk about their PSU defense right now. Their team is also a trainwreck
Penn state has also gotten only 1 out of the top 10 players in their own state so I don’t think looking at them for recruiting advice is best right now
November 18th, 2020 at 5:18 PM ^
Yeah, for all the shit Harbaugh gets about in-state recruiting Pitt is going to get twice as many top-247 kids from PA as PSU. It's sorta crazy.
November 18th, 2020 at 4:33 PM ^
Ja’den McBurrows also moved up 14 spots to be the #36 CB on 247. Rating boost from 87 to 88
November 18th, 2020 at 4:46 PM ^
Thanks! That is a pretty big jump. While were at it, i noticed Andrel Anthony also jumped up 29 spots at his position, now to the #78 WR in the nation. That is a big jump.
Christian Dixon dropped 6 spots at his WR position, how at 105.
Quinton Summerville dropped from 4* and #19 to 3* and #29 at SDE.

Man, Nua is killing it on the recruiting trail.
November 18th, 2020 at 4:36 PM ^
Straight outta Compton.
November 18th, 2020 at 4:38 PM ^
Our soon-to-be-former recruits, you mean.
November 18th, 2020 at 5:10 PM ^
None of it means anything when you can't coach recruits to their potential.
November 18th, 2020 at 5:12 PM ^
Penn State recruits Michigan better than they recruit Pennsylvania. That said, none of the players they have committed really move the needle for me. Though I’d probably just take any CB commit just to have them.
If we lose Edwards on top of Benny.....that’s pretty dismal. DT and RB are major needs and we had good recruits in state at those positions and to miss out on them? Very frustrating.
November 18th, 2020 at 6:43 PM ^
Kalen King is the real deal. He has a chance to be a very good professional football player.
November 18th, 2020 at 8:05 PM ^
Great name too. Though he is a twin and the last set of twin DB's we took in uhhh haven't turned out great so far.
November 18th, 2020 at 11:05 PM ^
We may want more than one RB but I'm not sure I'd say RB is a major need considering we have a glut of them now and all are young but Evans. Certainly not in the same breath as DT.
November 18th, 2020 at 5:38 PM ^
For all the star power in MI this cycle with Payne, Edwards, Spindler, Dellinger, Benny, Reed, King, etc. we might strike out on everyone but El-Hadid. This is particularly given we have several positions of need like CB & DT that we missed. I totally understand elite kids rethinking UM based on the on-field results. But, to go to MSU or PSU instead???
November 18th, 2020 at 7:03 PM ^
But Michigan has elite academics!
November 18th, 2020 at 7:30 PM ^
And a whack-a-do HC who wears the same thing every day with a mask boner. I can't believe I just said that. Boy how much a few weeks have changed my tune :/
November 18th, 2020 at 9:01 PM ^
It really sucks when 3 of them are at absolute pivotal positions in Payne and Benny at dt and King at cb.
November 18th, 2020 at 5:43 PM ^
I'll bet a dollar that Benny still end up at Michigan. That recruitment isn't over.
November 18th, 2020 at 5:47 PM ^
Have you seen the way we’ve handled our RBs? Edwards would be crazy to come here to get 4 carries a game.
November 18th, 2020 at 6:42 PM ^
I’m not sure about Edwards. He seems like a bigger, older kid running over smaller players. There’s nothing on his tape that pops. He reminds me of Ty Isaac
November 19th, 2020 at 2:37 AM ^
Maybe he's drawn by the possibility of getting to throw passes from the wildcat formation in rivalry games.
November 18th, 2020 at 6:25 PM ^
November 18th, 2020 at 7:02 PM ^
and PSU has yet to win a game this season...
