247 Sports Director Barton Simmons Crystal Balls LB Junior Colson to Michigan
247 Sports Director of Scouting Bart Simmons just placed a Crystal Ball for 6'2 230 OLB Junior Colson out of Tennessee, currently ranked #126 in the composite. Would be a welcome addition to a very young and talented LB room:
Did you forget you did this ?
Proud to take ownership of my first double post on MGoBlog, a very humbling experience.
a very humbling experience.
At least you used that word correctly. It drives me nuts hearing athletes say, "I'm so proud to have led this team to a championship, it's such a humbling experience."
You really don't see how that can be true? Failure should be humbling and typically it take a lot of little (or big) failures and growth to be successful at any level.
Yeah, but when you overcome all of your obstacles and failures, it has to feel like the very opposite of humbling. It would make sense that, upon winning the SB this year, Mahomes said, "Last year, despite all the hype and success I experienced, our loss to New England in the AFC championship round was very humbling." But it doesn't make sense for him to hold up the SB MVP trophy and say, "Winning this was very humbling."
I get it, I tend to be pretty cynical about pro athletes as a whole and they don't always act humble so the words can seem cliche. But being honored and recognized in that way can actually be humbling. If you sit on top for too long maybe you forget the process that got you there but when your goal is to be the best and you likely spend a lot of your life coming up short it's tough to forget those things that shape you. That's my experience at least.
What i would do to hear a UM football player say he’s humbled after leading his to a victory over OSU...
WOO-HOO! TWO BALLS!
Better than one.
....your thoughts on 3 balls comrade?
I'll believe a TN kid coming to Michigan when he signs. Can't imagine the Vols letting this kid go.
The Vols suck. There are many other teams I'd be more worried about losing him to.
TN has been a tough pull (Blake Bars is most recent memory for me), but maybe seeing Devin Bush get Top 10 pick as a true Jr. helps.
youre right, theyve missed on a few from tenn. they signed nate johnson in 16 - i believe he quickly transferred though i dont recall the circumstances
He did a bad thing.
Vols on average have only landed 2 of the top 5 (composite) Tennessee recruits since 2017.
They have lost or have zero crystal balls for the entire top-5 in '21. FYI - in 2019 the ONLY top 5 they got was Eric Gray (whom they flipped from M after we landed Charbonet)
Sweet! Does anyone with scouting experience know if he projects inside or outside/viper? Judging by the depth chart, ILB of his caliber would be an excellent pickup for this class if we end up landing him.
He's certainly athletic enough to play Viper. He's 2 inches taller and 10 pounds heavier than Khaleke is now and he's not even 18 yet, so he could add another 15 pounds of muscle with similar burst easily.
His 40 time is a 4.7, so not elite speed by any means (Khaleke ran a 4.56 at the combine, Jabrill was in the 4.4s), but he's got the range to be the kind of player you could build a defense around. Viper as a position is very adaptable to a couple different skillsets.
If he ends up at the Viper at his size, they'd have to rename it "Python"
doritos gone yet?
He would be a departure from what Michigan typically wants at inside linebacker.
He's not a Viper.
He would most likely be a SAM linebacker like Noah Furbush, Josh Uche, etc.
I was hoping an Isaiah Simmons type guy. Maybe not as fast, but similar build and versatility.
North Carolina with the #2 slot for 2021 at the moment. That seems... interesting... somewhat unnatural. I know they have a lot of commits but the per-commit ranking is pretty good too.
More top end talent in state this year for them.
4* Defensive player not from MA...must not be a Don Brown recruit
Yeah, hopefully no one tells don brown til after signing day.
Good!
